Coach is straight trolling upitt at this point...

This post is the poster child for reading what you just typed before clicking "post." To actually brag about making fun of other people is incredibly immature.

I guess you missed the part where I said "they deserve it". That is a key part of my post. Those hateful, jealous, S.O.B's deserve everything they get. They will never stop being who they are, so we have two options, just absorb their garbage, or point out what morons they are, and have fun in the process. I guess there is a third option, what you did... absorb their garbage, then interject your unsolicited opinion of others actions afterwards.

Since you missed a key point of my post, I guess that makes your post the poster child for understanding what you are replying to before clicking "Post" (actually it's "Post Reply"). I suggest you read a post at least twice before responding in the future, focusing on comprehension.... or better yet, keep your opinion to yourself.

Superiority Complex, much?

Geez, don't get so defensive. When you post immature crap, you better expect to be called on it. I read your entire post, including the lame comment "they deserve it." If you think that your personal proclamation that "they deserve it" somehow justifies the ignorant comments that you posted, well, I'm not surprised that you are too stubborn and prideful to acknowledge that you went way overboard.

I get that you think your particular college experience was great, but you have no idea what you missed out on. I have LIVED in both places, you have no idea how much better your college experience could have been.

Your post is inaccurate for multiple reasons. First as a college aged kid, the "extra" stuff that is available in Pittsburgh is pretty much off limits to you because you are a poor college kid. Sure a Pirates game is cheap, but it's not that far to drive from PSU to go to a Pirates game either... plus you have the options to drive to Philly or NYC. All the activities that are within the grasp of a typical college student are available at both, there are just better at PSU, there are just more of them at PSU, and you get to enjoy them in a safe/beautiful college town.

Secondly, an area doesn't open up opportunities, your education does. Someone doesn't get a job simply because they already live in the area, in fact all things being equal we will hire the person from someplace else. There is no disputing that a PSU degree opens up more opportunities than Pitt degree. PSU is recognized as #1 amongst corporate recruiters, and is universally considered a better school than Pitt. I work at a large Pittsburgh based technology company, the PSU grads outnumber the Pitt grads by at least 10-1.
I respect your opinion Panda, but my perspective is just different. I could not have had a better experience in college, and would do the same thing again. I know there are 'poor' college kids, but I didn't experience many, because many went to the pro games, concerts, festivals, and other things that are not available everywhere, and you can't tell me that most college kids would drive 3 or more hours to attend weekly events. I also don't believe that companies would rather hire from somewhere else, they hire who they feel is qualified and a 'fit' for them. There is disputing your opinions also about the schools. First, both are great schools. Your firm may hire more PSU grads, and maybe PSU is stronger in the tech fields, but are there more doctors or health workers hired from PSU? The job market will vary in that respect. Also, it is not 'universally' recognized that Psu is better. As a matter of fact, they are very closely ranked in most publications, and Pitt is a little higher in some international ones listed before. I worked in a school and I can factually say that it is harder to get into Pitt main than it is PSU main. I really am uncomfortable talking about this here, because it is your board, and I would not go to another one and be disrespectful, but you solicited my opinion with the arrogant response. Good luck in your tech company, and hope that you can visit Pittsburgh soon and enjoy the activities. I enjoyed my visits to SC, and have friends that had great college experiences there. I hope that we both can enjoy the upcoming football season.

OK, now we know where you stand, even though nobody asked. Just sit there quietly and absorb their BS.

I could have had a better college experience, maybe gone to Southern Cal? I can admit that, why can't you? You have to have an open mind.

I too went to the occasional concert, PSU gets as many if not more great acts than Pittsburgh. We also have Philly/Pittsburgh/NYC within a short drive to see a show if needed. We didn't need to attend weekly events like pro sports games. You only did that because you had no better option.

I did say "in fact all things being equal we will hire the person from someplace else." So you make no relevant point about hiring.

If you throw out irrelevant international rankings, PSU is always ranked higher. PSU has also been ranked #1 with corporate recruiters... stop ignoring this.

You are wrong, PSU main is in FACT harder to get in to than Pitt. I know plenty of people denied to PSU main that got massive scholarships to Pitt. Ranking services agree, check out comprehensive selectivity ratings. You can't just focus on pieces of selectivity, such as test scores. That's just cherry picking.

I'm sorry you find the truth to be arrogant. If you are uncomfortable talking here, then please don't. Your mind is not open to reality, so you will only waste both of our time.

Panda, I have many PSU friends, including a close neighbor who was personal friends with JoePa, and none of them think with the superior attitude that you do. Your reality is different than others. You need to be open-minded as you want others to be. The discussion is over, I, and many others with less tunnel-vision, will disagree with you. BTW, it is a fact, and you can look it up, that Pitt main is harder to get into. I can site examples as you can. A good friend's daughter got into PSU, after not being accepted at Pitt, and he is bitter about it, so don't hit me with the 'face reality' mantra. Both schools are great, just greater in some areas than the other. I have many friends, as I said, that love PSU, and I can discuss with reason with them. I will visit your board, as there is good info here, and many good posters, but I won't be disrespectful, as some posters seem to be on all boards. Have a great day.

Please stop projecting your behaviors back on me.

My reality is different than others, a small subset of lunatics at the lair. Your reality is different from everyone else's.

It is FACT that PSU, based on comprehensive selectivity rating, is harder to get in to than Pitt. LOOK IT UP. Don't look up pieces of overall selectivity, such as test scores. It is fact based on personal experience, and the experience of people around me, that PSU main is harder to get in to. I'm not playing your word games. I realize that PSU branch campuses are not tough to get in to, and that someone could definitely get denied by Pitt but get in to a PSU branch campus. But people routinely get denied by PSU main, and get generous scholarship offers to Pitt.

PSU (main) has always been a better, more selective school. So why waste you time trying to prove that Pitt has recently overtaken PSU? If it actually happened, it would be so recent that 99% of all graduate from both schools would have graduated under the status quo... that PSU was a better, more selective school. That includes you, if you are a graduate of Pitt. Pitt could become the most elite school in the world net year, but it wasn't when you went there. So why bother?

"This discussion is over" - Let's hope you are at least a man of your word and don't respond.
