If something is ‘obvious’ you don’t need to use the word. This usage has been epidemic for at least a dozen years and I can’t take it anymore. Talking to you, James Franklin. Talking to you, Saquon. STOP IT!

You live yours as a fascist.Evidently, you need to get a life.
obvious, even to the casual observer
Geez man try the decaf. LOL.
The word is used incorrectly way too often. Otherwise, why would I bring it up? Listen to Franklin’s postgame press conference. Here's another way to look at it. The interviewee mentions a certain football detail but they aren't sure if the interviewer has in depth knowledge of said detail. The interviewee throws in the word "obviously" as a way to avoid insulting the intelligence of the interviewer. Think of it as a way of saying, "You may already know this but for the people who don't...." Language can have a certain nuance. Embrace it.![]()
Obviously you do obsess. Why else would you vent here? Ironic, no? And it's really OK if you obsess. There are websites dedicated to discussions about the proper use of the English language. It sounds like one of those would be a great outlet. The word is used incorrectly way too often. Otherwise, why would I bring it up?
Should we discuss how the words ‘irony’ and ‘ironic’ are so often used incorrectly? Would that also suggest that I need ‘to get a life’?
I don’t obsess over these things. It’s just that serial misuse of words is so fvcking prevalent (and obvious to anyone able to hear the spoken word).
You, NittPicker, of all the posters here, should agree with me. Otherwise, lose your pun of a moniker.Obviously you do obsess. Why else would you vent here? Ironic, no? I do. I'm also proud to say I'm not a Harbaugh-esque type of picker. Even if I was, I wouldn't admit it here. You, NittPicker, of all the posters here, should agree with me. Otherwise, lose your pun of a moniker. Do you know what a nit is and why they need to be picked?
I would also suggest you refrain from watching any Mike Tomlin interviews then.

Literally.Obviously you need to get off my lawn.
Literally.
Art just hates the vernacular. Dig up Walt Whitman and have him give franklins press conferences.
Art — “Slade dashed betwixt the opposition, scarcely encumbered by foe nor pitch.”
Franklin - “Obvioulsy, I liked Slade’s touchdown run.”

Bullshit. I’ve been listening to this shit usage for many, many years. OBVIOUSLY is unnecessary and misused. Only a dope would think otherwise. Listen to Franklin speak. That’s all the proof I need. Saturday in his opening statement of the postgame presser he said “Obviously, the first thing I want to mention is what a great program App St. is.” (not exactly but very close). If it’s OBVIOUS why does he have to say it’s OBVIOUS? And, by the way, it’s NOT OBVIOUS that that’s the first thing he’d want to mention. It’s a dumbass way of speaking but you go right ahead and support it, dumbass.OH

Oh arbiter of what's prim and proper. Did it ever occur to you that the person asking the question, oftentimes a reporter, needs to be told what's obvious based on the question. Like this one here...

I for one think this is a strange thing to get all bent out of shape about. Just saying.Bullshit. I’ve been listening to this shit usage for many, many years. OBVIOUSLY is unnecessary and misused. Yeah, delete that dang word from the English language since there's no good time to use it. It should be left on the Latin ash pile. So, then, the word should never be used, because it perfectly describes what it's supposed to describe, to the point where it shouldn't describe what it describes?

Now, that’s “ironic”?So, then, the word should never be used, because it perfectly describes what it's supposed to describe, to the point where it shouldn't describe what it describes?
Your post was an obvious attempt at making something simple, complicatedSo, then, the word should never be used, because it perfectly describes what it's supposed to describe, to the point where it shouldn't describe what it describes?
