Coaches Show: Sanderson says Nolf won't need surgery, no redshirts to be pulled

His exact quote was:

"wrestling right now"

That was a lie. He was obviously being hopelessly optimistic, but that public quote to the media was a lie. Not calling him a liar, in that, that is his personality. Just answering the very rhetorical question of why should we trust his public comments now?
To be fair the he's wrestling right now comment was accurate. He was in the room, on the mat and actively hand fighting.

If I was the 125 pounder who didn’t go to nationals because of what PSU did last year, I would be calling him a liar. Personally, I call it fibbing. I don’t want to introduce racial overtones so I won’t call it a white lie.

I can’t wait for Saturday night.:)

If you slap someone aboard the cruiseliner, is that considered wrestling? (Not that Suriano did.)

Good point, Cael could have easily been referring to thumb wrestling or playing WWE on the X-box.
When I tried to collect a gambling debt in elementary school, my friend gave me 5 "doll hairs". He was SHOCKED to discover that I had thought our bet was for 5 "dollars".

The charade last was more about how to deal with the kid.
The medical conclusion was the kid was not going to be able to go. His season was done and he needed to begin the process of healing. The kid was emotionally overwhelmed with the knowledge that he was not going to get a shot at winning 4 titles. There was a collective decision to move forward with the goal of doing everything possible to give him a chance to have a miracle cure, and that included continual reinforcement. In other words, everybody except kid and dad knew he wasn't going to be able to go until the Wednesday prior to the finals.

In this case, who knows. What I do know is that despite my emotional connection to the team as a fan and my desire to know what is going on, the whys and hows of each athlete's medical condition is none of my business. I am OK with that.

So this whole Suriano drama was about him not being medically cleared to wrestle at NCAAs last year? So the kid and his father would rather that Cael would have ignored sound medical advice and send him out to possibly damage his ankle further? What kind of delusional is that? How is it Cael or PSU's fault that he injured his ankle in a match and the injury was not healed in time for him to compete? Does he think that Goodall would have had him wrestle? If so who would want to wrestle for a coach that would jeopardize your long term health for short term gain?

I’m sorry I’ve always given the benefit of the doubt to people I respect. We do not know everything that transpired last year. Your opinion is that Cael mislead the wrestling world. I tend to disagree. IMO there was a chance of competing in NCAAs medically two weeks prior (big 10s) and what happened happened. Come 10 days later a decision is made he is not ready and he and pop disagreed. The kid deserved the chance to heal and medically did not. Is my opinion off? Did I miss something that suggests a different? If Nick had a 5% chance of being competitive does he deserve the chance to heal?

Did your friend become a lawyer or a comedian or just end up in jail or a body bag?

One statement at the coaches show that I thought was funny and no one touched was a quote from Nick. He said that Cael was the most offensive person he ever met (paraphrasedby me). I know he meant from a scoring standpoint, but I found it funny. Maybe it is just me.

Close. He went on to study philosophy.

But after that, we lose the linear narrative because he became an organic farmer and local community activist and gadfly to the city council.

You got most of it. The part where you attempt to separate what you are saying and what I said is a bit shaky. If it makes you feel better, OK.
