A few thoughts on how he can improve the program to raise it up to UM and OSU standards:
1. Ask Scott Cochran to take a paid visit to Happy Valley to evaluate the PSU strength & conditioning program. Alabama has the best in the nation, and while PSU''s is ok, it could improve.
2. Understand that for the next 4 years PSU can't risk a major recruiting violation (a second violation after a previous violation within a 5-year period can bring the death penalty). But after that, PSU should recruit like Ohio State with its famed "$2,000 handshake" or Michigan with its $12,000 signing bonus (see Charles Woodson). Fer sure PSU needs to go after Rivals100 talent and expand into FL and TX.
3. Think about hiring Texas HC Charles Strong after the Longhorns fire him. Great recruiter in FL, great defensive mind, and he'll have $10M from the Texas buyout, so he won't need a big salary, just a chance to prove Texas was wrong. Mike Locksley is another great recruiter.
4. Bring in a 5th year grad transfer each year. For all of its talent, the Crimson Tide adds 1 each year, WR Richard Mullaney last year from Oregon State and this year WR Gehrig Dieter from Bowling Green. Think about Alabama RJr WR Robert Foster. He's currently playing behind So Calvin Ridley, Fr Travon Diggs, Sr Dieter, and Jr ArDarius Stewart, and Bama has a commitment from the #1 HS WR, Jerry Jeudy. The Tide can use his scholie. Foster is a PA kid from Monaca Central Valley. so he might come back for increased playing time, and the Lions could RS Saeed Blackwell.
5. Penn State should add one quality JUCO transfer each year, Fortunately they have one of the nation's top JUCOs in Lackawanna CC. Paris Palmer and Tyrell Chavis are starting at PSU from LCC. OT Elemeanor is starting at OT for TAMU. Also from LCC.

No, but thanks anyway.
You are welcome, I really think that Foster would be a great get for Penn State for one year. He was a high 5-star at Monaca Central Valley, but he's stuck on the depth chart ar Bama. I'm worried that he'll transfer to Pitt.

Crimson Lights, not sure why you feel compelled to post here and give us the same condescending crap from the lofty position of a 'Bama fan; most Bama fans are knowledgeable and polite, but you're not appreciated here.

The question is can anyone cheat as much, and as well, as Bama??

I hate myself for responding, but I have to...

We are not on probation. It was thrown out. If we were to get a violation, we won't, but let's say if we did it would be a first. Being that we have never ever gotten one, I don't think we ever will. To your larger point, NO we will not be participating in that shit here.

Royboy, unlike you I like Penn State and would like to see it dominate the B1G . No reason it can't be as good as Nebraska and Whisky. It is a very young team that will get much better, but so is Ohio State. When I proposed recruiting Windsor from Fon Du Lac Wisconsin people here roasted me because Wisconsin didn't want him, but look at him now, the next great PSU DT barring injury. When PSU lost Noah Spence to OSU, I said that Evan Schwann would be just as good. Folks laughed, but they are not laughing now.

What exactly did disagree with in my post?

Bob Shoop, you're getting riddled at Tennessee. Still want to insult PSU HC James Franklin?

The sanctions were thrown out, but not the probation. This is the first year after the probation expired.

How about if I hate you as a substitute? Just trying to be helpful.......

You're incorrect friend.

BTW the only reason I said I hate myself for responding was not because I hate you but bc I knew I was going to get drawn into an discussion about something you know nothing about. The probation was thrown out. It's moot, we aren't violating recruiting rules regardless.

Yup, Ohio State and LSU. But Michigan is closing fast, and there is always FSU and Clemson. And Texas A&M and Auburn, of course. Why do you think that Rashan Gary went to UM?

Wrong. The sanctions were thrown out but not the actual probation. The NCAA had to save face. Probation expired last year.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Jjhonny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He'd go to Pitt over us, but then again, they won't have anybody to throw to him. Perhaps WVU?

No, no, no, no, and no. Do you have any other suggestions? The goal of Penn State fans is success with honor, not success at all cost so lets follow the SEC model. This is ridiculous...

And there'ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Early Onset Alzheimer's Artie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No action on the single-mom's bulletin boards? Big surprise, Jhonny from Schwenksville.

According to the official NCAA site, there are no major infractions listed for PSU, not for the time period post-Sandusky (2011- present), or ever. I believe I read that the university signed a consent decree with the NCAA, but no actual NCAA probation was ever decreed. If what I read is correct, the BOT placed PSU on Double-Secret Probation. I could be wrong, but the official NCAA site lists nothing under PSU. Anybody have more details?

Well,
1. I don't know enough of the strength and conditioning program to comment.
2. Start the $2,000 handshake, $12,000 'signing bonus' aka Ohio St/ Michigan/ SEC- uhhhhhh......................HELL NO!!!!!!
Never. I don't care what anyone else does or doesn't do. That's not success with honor and a complete nonstarter.
3. I'll leave any hiring decisions completely up to Franklin.

Coach Saban won't be there much longer and Bama will come back to earth eventually. It's a helluva run they're on now, but they know as well as anyone what mediocre football looks like (see Mike Shula). Appreciate the thoughts Crimson, but State has a way we do things that I doubt very much we'll stray from.

I agree with the graduate transfer thing you said. However, we screwed the pooch so badly with that (Reihner), I doubt Franklin will ever go that route again.

I ask you cause I get along with you and you will shoot me straight. :). Just out of Curiosity, which recruits do you think Michigan paid to get them there.

I think he was answering the op's original conjecture, not making his own premise. If you're going to troll all day on a PSU message board, at least read the threads you are trying to derail.

Relax guy. I wasn't trolling. He and I have had good conversations in the past. I asked a simple question.

Me thinks Michigan man is a bit worried about next year already.

Relax gobluester, you'd better win your title THIS year, because you ain't gonna be there next year, Peppers or NO Peppers.

Ah yes, it's the rebranded Northern Lights. Why did you ditch that handle?

None. I don't follow recruiting close enough to know any of the shenanigans that go on anywhere (other than the big stories that go national).

I was just replying to Crimson's post where he listed OSU and Michigan. I threw in SEC to make a point for an SEC poster pointing fingers at others. (Probably should have removed OSU and UM to be more clear........but since it got a Michigan fan all riled up I'll consider it a win-win. :D). It was a response to his original post rather than any opinion of mine on Michigan. As for Ohio St......I consider the jury to be still out. ;)

You're good people. Sorry I high jacked the thread by asking you a question. Best of luck to you guys the rest of the year. Saturday was impressive and the wife and I celebrated accordingly. :).
