We lost a real good one who was highly respected in the coaching community. He served Penn State well in his time here. Our defenses were always competitive. Not a Tech fan but I’ll be rooting for him.

I am sure some posters are glad, I agree, we lost a good one
As much as I feel our D was a little over rated this year, it's not a bad thing for a program to have coordinators get head coaching gigs.
Franklin is building quite a coaching tree in relatively short order. Losing Pry stings a bit, but I trust Franklin to find a capable replacement.
Pry was a good man and players coach. He was a solid DC overall but the superlatives that you read on Techsideline are funny. Some quotes I have seen:
PSU is really hurting from this one
He is taking all important coordinators from PSU
Penn State will not be able to recruit VA/MD/DC same without Pry
I hear he is getting Spencer at DC
This hurts PSU bad but they will never be more than third best in BT East

VT folks feel very similar to how we feel after losing a Hall of Fame coach and not having our accustomed successes. While I was born in Western Virginia- I've never really embraced the Hokies. Kevin Jones was a tipping point- and while their staff had little to do with his announcement- I rooted against them/him.
Can't be mad at Pry- he is making a move that is best for him and his family- maybe we call it a "business decision". I won't root against him. There is little doubt that he will impact our recruiting in the area compared to his predecessor who was never embraced. Expect tighter battles- but there is enough talent to supply both PSU and VT. We both have had out hits and misses recently from VA- sometimes the stars just don't align (or perform). If we find a way to keep the wheat for us and give them the chaff we'll be even better!
