Is he now famous or infamous? IMO, the coach had a great answer to a stupid question. Has a Lion press conference ever drawn this much publicity? I feel bad for Corey.
Corey deserves every bad thing coming to him. His conduct vis a vis Penn State and Joe Paterno was disgusting and self serving.Has Geiger ever done anything in the past to piss Franklin off? It seemed like Franklin took the opportunity to completely bodybag Geiger. Words like uncomfortable, skin is curling, no never in my career absolutely not. Absolutely hilarious, but also seemed like he was making an example out of him.
Don’t get me wrong, terrible question and Geiger even doubled down at one point. But it felt like the idea of the question itself wasn’t horrible, just HOW it came out of his mouth. Regardless, this has been broadcastedCorey everywhere, even nationally at this point.
Just from hearing him on Pittsburgh sports talk shows, mainly to talk about the Altoona Curve, he’s another example of a PA media member who is intentionally hostile or dismissive of PSU. This is the exact opposite of the Ohio media who cover OSU, most of whom wear scarlet and grey cheerleading skirts.Corey deserves every bad thing coming to him. His conduct vis a vis Penn State and Joe Paterno was disgusting and self serving.

Penn State Beat Writer Corey Geiger Gives His Thoughts on Everything Penn State
Altoona Mirror Penn State Football Beat Writer Corey Geiger joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller live from State College to update us on everything that is going on.www.cbsnews.com
That's the kind of shots at Penn State giger did on his old radio show almost daily. The last time I heard anything from him he was talking about Joey Porter Jr. in the draft. He said something like Penn State has never had a DB go in the first round, then he followed it up by saying, let me repeat that ,PENN STATE, HAS, NEVER, HAD A DB go in the first round. You could tell he just loved saying that.Giger does come across as a know it all. For example, last hoops season, he kept insisting Shrewberry has to go to Notre Dame because it is a big step up and acted like the Irish were a Blue Blood program. Meanwhile, ND plays in an old, antiquated arena, in a regressing b-ball conference that doesn't generate as much money as the Big 10 and has had only one very good hoops season (2014-15) since the early years of Digger Phelps 45 years ahas been
When you’re completing about 75% of so called “50/50 balls”, I wouldn’t say he was just chucking it up there.Flounders and Jones had a pretty good take on this. This wasn't really about Geiger. Franklin is very touchy about the passing game because it's the hole in Penn State's team. Geiger was asking kind of indirectly (because he knew it was a sensitive subject) whether the reason PSU doesn't throw it downfield is because they don't have receivers. Franklin's harsh reaction basically confirms the suspicions.
PSU has a QB who can put the ball anywhere but, at least as of now, no receivers who can really get open against a quality corner. They also don't have guys who can be relied upon to out-jump a corner or safety and come down with the ball. Flounders and Jones contrasted this with the 2016 team which had 3 receivers and 1 TE who could all do that. McSorley could just chuck it downfield and know someone would go up and get it.

Of so, it is the first good take of their careers. Flounder and Jones ... add Gieger and you pretty much have nothing.Flounders and Jones had a pretty good take on this. True, "chucking" wasn't the right word. McSorley was highly accurate and was putting the ball exactly where he wanted it. But he could throw to covered receivers because Godwin, Blacknall and Hamilton were all big guys with great ball skills. Penn State doesn't have one wideout this year who could do what any of those guys could do. Lambert Smith is a good football player but he's not a big physical guy; you can't safely throw to him unless he has good separation.
I’m pretty sure the play call wasn’t “everybody go deep”.I loved the answer, and I believe Franklin when he says he would never coach that, but honestly it seemed like McSorley did this exact thing a lot in 2016

Franklin needs some coaching. His behavior was despicable - he better apologize in the next press conference.
I hope you're being sarcastic...Franklin needs some coaching. His behavior was despicable - he better apologize in the next press conference.
“You’re the bottle cap, you’re the piece of glass, and you’re the rock….everyone go deep.” The Corey Geiger play call.I’m pretty sure the play call wasn’t “everybody go deep”.
To Japanese people, for inferring Corey can speak their language.I hope you're being sarcastic...
Keep up. He's already coddled Cory. Cory's the one who:
1. Asked a poor question about a good but beaten in subject
2. Tried to double down and got blasted by the general public
Franklin doesn't have to be polite with the media. Particularly negative ones who seldom write a positive word.
The media represents the fans. They don’t have an obligation or responsibility to have perfectly delivered questions. When Franklin berates someone who makes 10% of what he does, it makes him look childish and insecure. He needs to have hella better bedside manners.
He has 24 hours a day to prepare the 2 or 3 questions he gets to ask every week. If he can't form that question without sounding like some drunk in the stands yelling "chuck it deep", does he even really need to be a football reporter?
Perhaps his past actions led to this? Is that possible? Or is JF just mean to everyone? Do we need a hurt feelings form to pass around the PCs?
Homer, Franklin was an ass. Stop rationalizing
You mean like every other coach in history has done or does on a regular basis? When faced with a dumb question, coaches respond accordingly. The media represents the fans.
