David Taylor -110

He got marched all over the mat. In the first match, he was almost DQ'd in the first period on cautions because he couldn't hold his ground.

In the second, he got marched around again. He was extremely close to being down 9-0 at the end of the first. He stole a takedown that Yaz had 99% finished on a go behind (extremely savvy and probably saved the match because it made it 3-2 instead of 5-0 after a minute). Then he gave up another 2 and was saved by the bell to prevent a last second 2 again and only gave up 1 to be down 6-2 at the break.

If you don't want to call getting marched all over the mat for 3 minutes "bullied" that's your call, but that was bullying to me.

And there's no bias against DT either. I'm nervous because I want the man to win so bad. USA baby! You should see me during Spencer's matches.

Hopefully, the third time's the charm figuring out that underhook. DT is the more skilled wrestler, but that position is so dominant it keeps Yazdani in the match.
marched lol how many points you get for that!!end of match is all that matters!!

I'm going to trust Casey & Cael to help DT make the proper adjustments more so than whoever is on the Iranian staff.

I think Casey & Cael have shown at least once or twice that they know how to coach their mid/upper weight wrestlers to make necessary adjustments to a specific opponent. ;)

I’m pretty sure Yazdani is going to force Taylor to dial it up. Although…I wonder if Yaz will try to conserve energy until the 2nd period before unleashing his fury.

As I already stated, I think that strategy will play into DT's game. Without that pressure that Yazdani puts on (which comes at a price of energy spent), Taylor can get to his offense more quickly.
They are both great scramblers but in each exchange I believe it's more costly for Yaz. So, the question is whether it's better for Yaz to initiate or let Taylor initiate.
Could also be a case where because it's the Olympics Yazdani has worked a little harder on his conditioning.
Hopefully we'll get to see the match.

I’ve been waiting for this week for so long. It’s the week D Taylor lands some AU (periodic table symbol for gold). Like many, a lot going on but I am all about this 86kg freestyle event, all else is background noise (as much as I can make it). If you are religious, put in a prayer for DT, if you are an energy-sender, send it to add strength and power to David’s effort. This is it! I feel like many of us are emotionally invested in his success. Let’s see if we can tilt the universe to aid our guy!

Looks like the only TV coverage is the finals every day on USA ar 2:30. Dts should be on Friday.

Man am I pissed. I purposely stayed away from this page to avoid potential spoilers relative to wrestling outcomes. I watched last night until midnight and am recoding every session. Someone on the McAndrew page posted wrestling result directly in the subject line. This is worse than including a result in an unrelated thread. Ugh!

Dude, stay off the forums. That's what I do. You should know better by now.

Taylor has looked great and I can’t wait to see this matchup. Yazdani has looked very good and completely dominant as well. I expect an exciting match. Certainly both competitors have had this one circled.

Just glad we’re getting the match. Hope we get the Dake/Sidakov and Snyder/Sadulaev matchups as well.

DAVID freaking TAYLOR is ABLAZE on the stage he's envisioned his whole life!! So exciting to watch. I remember seeing his first match in PSU singlet against Cyler Sanderson when they had wrestle offs, and even though he lost, knew he was going to be something special by his pace and attacks. Thankful he followed Cael to PSU and awesome to see how far he has come.

As an aside, my wife could go into labor any minute, but you better believe I will be tuning in at 5:15am tomorrow, baby or not, and will putting all my chips in for the name Taylor when he is born. Unfortunately I only get 49% of the name vote.

Weirdly, to me the most surprising of that match was Shabanau’s defense on this attack. If it’s the exchange I’m thinking of, this scored no points.
Yes, the offensive attack was beautiful, but I think you are right: Shabanau stepped out of it or at least wasn't scored upon.

???

This is the video I already shared lol.

He looks awesome so far. Noticeable change in pace from the second minute of his first match on. Definitely had the easier side, so it's not a fair comparison, but Naifonov gave Yazdani all he wanted.
Yeah, but for some reason I was unable to open it, so I thought I would directly link the youtube video again.
