Depth Chart

PSU certainly has some great prospects but expectations are high. Last year we had 3 losses and 2 uncomfortably close wins (USC & Minnesota). There's a fine line between 9-3 and 11-1 when you have teams like Oregon & OSU on the schedule. Even teams like Nebraska and Iowa (with QB Gronkowski) could be difficult.
That's my up and coming B1G team. They could be hard to beat in the next few years

That's 7 out of 22 starting positions not including special teams.

WR remains a concern. Certainly no Jeremiah Smith in the bunch.
LB is weak after Rojas with just some young 3* kids like Speca, Tasch, & Wylie (+ fresh Arrington)
DT is weak after Durant with only Artis and injury prone Ford.
S is weak after Wheatley. Lane is promising but young. We're counting on King Mack who was rated 95 as a prospect but only 88 as a transfer. That reeks of Julian Fleming at WR last year. I hope I'm wrong.

Regarding LBer, it appears they offered Shay Taylor, the Ohio Univ portal LBer to help bolster that position. Does anyone know if PSU was pursuing to UNC portal LBer? He had very good exoerience/stats.

Taylor is the 48th rated LB in the portal. Sounds like a depth piece at best.

I see a kid named Amare Campbell is in the portal from NC. He's from Virginia which is within our normal recruiting area. I wonder if PSU is looking at him.

No doubt Taylor is not a starter but experienced depth. Did PSU previously recruit Campbell? UNC had a very experienced LBer with excellent stats enter the portal (not Campbell). His name escapes me but I was hoping PSU would pursue him.

Not saying they'll win the B1G or be a Playoff team, but they'll give top teams fits and ruin a season or two
Every year folks are predicting Nebraska is on the way back and every year, it doesn’t happen. At some point someone may end up being “correct,” but as of now, it’s the Boy Who Cried Corn.

Agree. Luckily we have an easy schedule. But this team is no slam dunk for playoffs and will not get an easy draw two years in a row if they do get there.

Understood but Rhule has a history of taking down teams and doing well in year 2 and after
