h/t to Judge Smails for the PSU tweets

========

Both OhSt and Mich have picked up a lot of Director's Cup points in Wrestling.

PSU was 1st, adding 100 pts.
tOSU was 3rd, adding 85 pts.
Mich was 9th, adding 68.25 pts.

PSU once had a considerable edge in points from wrestling, when the other two programs finished lower in the sport. However, this year, both OhSt and Mich dramatically closed the gap.

We will see how this unfolds in the future.

Expect Penn State to continue to do very well. Will likely be the team to beat for the foreseeable future.

Expect Oh St to remain competitive with the remaining schools. They rose from the ashes and realized their state produces a lot of high school talent. Of course, the Buckeyes won it last year, when Penn State redshirted 5 key wrestlers. Guessing they would like to continue focusing on wrestling at a high level.

Expect mixed results from Mich. However, given the large number of points they can get in the Directors' Cup, by finishing way out of the running at 9th, here's guessing they will try to maintain some sort of finish near the top ten.

Holy smokes -

Minnesota finished 17th at the NCAA Tourney, with fewer points than Zain Retherford.

Yet they still got 57 points out of 100, in the Directors' Cup. That seems like a very disproportionate number of points for being toward the bottom of the top 20.

So fwiw, below are other BT team NCAA Tournament finishes and their Directors' Cup points.

=======

School - NCAA Finish - Dir's Cup Pts

PSU - 1st - 100 DC pts (123 NCAA Pts)

OH ST - 3rd - 85 pts (86 NCAA Pts)

Iowa - 5th - 75 pts (81 NCAA pts)

Neb - 8th - 70.5

Mich - 9 - 68.25
IL - 9 - 68.25

Rut - 15 - 60

MN - 17 - 57

Wisc - 23rd - 51

Ind - 28th - 46

Pur - 41 - 32.5

NW - 50 - 20.5

MD - 64 - 10

Mich St - 0 - 0

Note: All #s expected to be correct.
But, reading across the spreadsheet could create errors. Any updates or corrections are appreciated.

Thanks RoarLions1.

The 64 team list looks like a very generous point system for teams that have very little success, if most teams are not competitive for the title.

I think they should arrange a separate Presidents Cup tournament where teams compete head to head and whoever wins the most events gets the title. That's the only way to decide who really has the best athletic department
