Don’t be surprised if Michigan is playing in the playoffs

For all the blue blood programs, they have achieved the least in the modern era. No doubt about it.

At least Nebraska won 2.5 titles in the 1990s and played for a title in 2001.

At least Texas won a title in 2005 and played for another title in 2009.

At least Notre Dame has gone to multiple CFPs and has won multiple titles from the 1970s onward.

1/2 of a national title since the 1940s. No conference titles in the past 17 years. For mighty Michigan.

They hang their hat on "most wins" -- but that gap is closing. And it's a record they built on the backs of their glory days in the 1930s or whenever. Very few people are left alive who actually remember when Michigan was last dominant.

LOL.
Good thing we don't dwell on past glories.

If we’re being honest, Michigan is much better than Penn St.
At what? Arrogance? The schools have different missions. Penn State is a land-grant university primarily serving residents of PA. Michigan tries to be a poor man's Harvard and is more focused on numbers than state residence.

That's my opinion.

The buckeyes are the best in the Big10, again this year.

Even with a new QB and some holes.

But now they're clicking.

We had a far better chance against Michigan than we did against OSU. Really, should have won against Michigan.
I thought we had a great opportunity to win at OSU and blew it. And the OSU fans sitting near me knew it.

Maybe. Felt like we were just hanging on against OSU. Felt like we SHOULD have won against Michigan.
Until the kids gave up that long TD pass and then, the strip sack for a td, I hadn't thought here we go again. Before hand, I listened to many on the board predicting a blow out!! I know, I know..... there's no such thing as a moral victory! 😉

Listen I'm not even sold at the moment that whomever wins the East division beats Wisconsin if they make it from the West and play like they have been as of late.

This thread is a wonderful example of why Michigan fans are universally loathed outside of Ann Arbor and the Walmart Wolverine universe. Unbridled arrogance for a program that hasn't won a full national title since the Harry Truman administration. LOL.
I've always felt like the two most arrogant a-hole fan bases are 1. Michigan and 2. Notre Dame and, believe me, if Michigan goes on to beat OSU this year, I'll have a ton of company on this board. I really think there's a chance because of the crappy OSU defense. Expect their fans to swarm this - and other B1G boards - like locust letting everybody know about their outstanding academics and top football team.

I very seldom - if any - see OSU fans over here thumping their chests over victories or championships - or rubbing it in other fan bases' face. The only B1G team that has done that was Iowa earlier in the year but we all saw how that ended up for Iowa in the next few weeks. And PSU would have won that Iowa game with a healthy Clifford. Wait and see what happens if Michigan wins the B1G this year. It boils down to the old saying "act like you've been there before." And they haven't. God help us all

I think playing at home, Michigan has a very good chance to beat OSU this year. Michigan doesn't win pretty, but they control the lines.
Agree. This is the best UM team in a while. OSU does not have a good defense. UM is at home and Harbaugh badly needs to beat OSU. Game could go either way.

Penn St looked much better vs Ohio St this year.

PSU looked sluggish and slow vs Michigan.

Bad as you make it seem, lose to Rutgers and their trolls will make the UM people sound like Mother Theresa accepting a huge monetary donation.

If you've followed the PSU-OSU games over the last 5 to 6 years, PSU is the team that always gives OSU fits - ALWAYS. PSU has won the one B1G championship that OSU hasn't won and a couple of the PSU-OSU games were 1-point OSU wins. Ask most OSU fans which game makes them the most nervous every year and the immediate answer is Penn State

IMO, Michigan will need to run the ball and eat up clock. They’ll hope to get 4 - 5 minutes off the clock per possession and score on at least (FG or TD) 5 possessions.
Ohio State will score quickly and often.
Ohio State wins by big margin.

Agree, maybe the worst OSU defense in 20 to 30 years. It will be interesting to see what the point spread will be on the OSU - Michigan game. I have no doubt that Michigan will move and score on the OSU defense. Just not sure they can keep up with the OSU offense. This is going to be a tighter game than many think. It sounds like Day is going to replace a few defensive coaches after this year
The defense at the start of the year was horrible. They changed coaches and scheme and the defense is average or maybe slightly above average. Denzel Burke is a stud at corner and they have very many good defensive linemen. Steel Chambers has turned into a very good linebacker.

The 2018 defense was absolutely horrible and way worse than this year's defense. Gave up 51 points to Maryland and maybe six or seven runs over 60 yards. Tossed all of the defensive coaches after that year and got good ones including Jeff hafley.

It appears that it will be strength against strength with Ohio state's offensive line against Michigan's defensive line. The Purdue coach said that Ohio State had a fantastic offensive line. Until the Purdue game the line had been great in past protection and poured a mediocre and run blocking. However, during the Purdue game I noticed several pancakes. The offense of line had a much more aggressive attitude towards run blocking. Both of Ohio state's offensive tackles are very good. Interesting matchup against Michigan's defensive ends.

The one thing that Michigan has this year that makes them dangerous is they have a quarterback who can win the game in the fourth quarter. Also, Stroud hasn't proven that he can put the team on his shoulders. On the other hand, it is quite possible that Ohio State can get off to a very good start and just run away with the game with their receivers. There is a ton of pressure on Michigan.
