Dual with Iowa on 1/20 or 1/22

I have a few outlooks that I don't agree with:

Thomas Gilman isn't pinning Nick Suriano.

Zain could easily MD Brandon Sorensen

Jason Nolf is teching or pinning Michael Kemmerer

Nick Nevills is not getting majored by Sam Stoll.

Agree with all of that. Zain majored Sorenson at nationals on a late takedown. Funny stuff, just glad we get to wrestle them this year. I'm pumped......orange you too??

Prediction is not even close. I agree with amalone. But I don't think Cenzo will pin Martinelli. I'd say 24-15.

Ian... that's the other prediction I didn't agree with, but it's not completely out of the question as Cenzo had some impressive wins and falls in the freestyle season.

I certainly don't see Iowa winning and I'd think the score would be closer to the score you put up... worse if Mark Hall is not red-shirted which I don't think happens. I would predict that Mark Hall would pin Alex Meyer and Bo Nickal would beat Sammy Brooks. Shakur Rasheed would make for an interesting battle with Iowa's 197iber if he were to replace Anthony Cassar at that weight.

Andegre's mathematical model is modified from the metric used for chess rankings (ELO). It will get much, much better as the season goes on...though boiling bouts down to a formula is always going to have some error.

If, if, if..

285 could be a disaster.
197 could be a disaster
184 will be a disaster
133 could be a disaster
125 could be a disaster

If Iowa has a pretty good night and everything breaks Iowa's way. Penn State 22 - 12.

Nevills will beat Stoll this year....

Mathematical computer predictions sure can get some people wound up these days.

You know, i read on the Internet that the majority of computer device's are Hawkeye fans. Hard to fault them!

If only they had beerak back.

Haters gonna hate, hate, hate

15-13? Do you know how team scoring works in a dual? Of course, if the refs actually enforce the rules T&T could get a couple of team points deducted.
I am certain the northern hawk understands dual scoring. He is just assuming:
1. the match starts at 157
2. the Hawks get a bonus at 25 or 33
and he just gave us the score going into the last 2 matches.

Actually he and I pretty much agree that assuming things go perfectly for the birds they will only lose 22 to 12 (or 13).

If they lose nationals by 10 points and get little out of 197, the Burak threads will come out of the woodwork after nationals.

If they finish off the team podium yet again.....HR IT should be proactive.

Jefe at the morning meeting maybe we can suggest our guys lend them a hand?

Considering 17-18 will be a down year, I can't imagine the firestorm if they finished off the board three years running.

Off the podium? Could happen. Way early, with some questions whether Marinelli will go and Stoll's recovery. I have them on the podium if; 2 Champs (& 3 Finalists), 7-8 AA's, and 15+ Bonus Points.

Flamethrower-proofing HR would make a fantastic IT project for incoming PSU IST major Mason Manville.

Interesting dual.
125- dec. Iowa 8-4 (3-0)
133- dec. Iowa 4-2 (6-0)
141-dec. PSU 6-3 (6-3)
149 Mdec. PSU 10-2 (6-7)
157 Tech. PSU 19-4 (6-12)
165 dec.PSU 8-3 (6-15)
174 dec. PSU 7-5 (6-18)
184 dec. Iowa 9-6 (9-18)
197 dec. Iowa 8-7 (12-18)
285 dec. PSU 4-3 (12-21)
Just my honest, best guess having the info I have in front of me. 285 could go the other way, and maybe Bo will blow out Meyer, but I tend to think not in both cases. 197 is really up for grabs imo, but gave it to Iowa at home.

I might be over optimistic, but Suriano's defensive abilities have been well documented.
He basically went his entire HS career with giving up a single takedown. That match vs Fix lasted over 30 mins.

I know Gilman is a favorite to make the finals, but I can't see Gilman scoring 8 points off of Suriano.

I'm thinking 3-1, 4-2 type of match here.

And what if a colossal upset at 125 or 133 happens in PSU's favor, it's Katie bar the door? However, even if that happens, especially at CHA, another match could go the in the Hawkeye's favor, that would certainly make for an exciting ending. Regardless, I'm just happy as a wrestling fan this match is on the schedule, and the timing of it couldn't be better:)

And those type of upsets pretty much happen in every dual meet, which just makes it even more exciting.

This was from the Pennlive article this week regarding the PSU lineup:

174: Bo Nickal. Rumors are floating online about Nickal bumping up to 184 this season. Sanderson did not commit one way or the other but said he expects Nickal to maintain this weight class this year. Long term he believes Nickal will move to 184 because he wants to compete at 86kg (189 pounds) on the freestyle circuit. "I think eventually his plan is to move up,'' Sanderson said. "Long term he will go to 184 eventually. When that is, who knows? It could be this year, I would guess definitely in a year from now he would go up. We'll see, it's up to him and whether he grows or not.''

Ok thank you. Makes sense if he can hold it this year then go up next year and Hall takes over 174.
