Duke vs. Ole Miss

Yes but the line was 17.5. I think the regular QB covers that.

Murphy wasn't very strong this year. Whether the Tulane QB is the upgrade they expect (I think yes) is to be seen, but this line is more Ole Miss didn't have opt outs than Duke lost Murphy.

Another ACC team goes down in flames. Likely Minny beats VT to end the misery at 2-10. This night be the worst bowl performance y a conference.

During the broadcast, they said the Tulane QB transferring to Duke is getting an $8 mil NIL deal!!!!!! Unreal!

The big thing is, they got 2 in the playoff, both of which were soundly defeated. That then shifted some of their other bowl matchups. Duke and Ole Miss had the same record, but Duke stunk this year. I know, a lot of us still love Manny, but his team was weak. Just reality.

Ole Miss is probably the team who should have been in the playoff (instead of the Bama and South Carolina whining). They just inexplicably lost 2 games they had no business losing.

Not to mention with all of Kiffin’s tweeting, he was going to try to crush Duke to say I told ya so. Ole Miss wasn’t playing this as a scrimmage.

Here's a thought for Kiffin: if you want to be in the playoffs, don't lose to a bad Kentucky team. If you can't manage that, limit your losses to mid-pack SEC teams to one. Oh, and maybe try to finish better than 9th in your own conference.

All fair and good points but he's also not wrong in his argument that most of the time, there's exceptions, the Big Ten and SEC should be getting the benefit of the doubt when selecting playoff teams. ASU impressed. SMU Clemson Boise State and Indiana all showed they didn't belong. And, yes, some will argue Tennessee but, like Oregon, they just got a pissed off Ohio State team that no one was going to beat.

Yep. Kentucky was... not good this season. They went 4-8 with the following wins: Southern Miss, Ohio, Murray State and Ole Miss. You really don't have much of a case when you lose a game to a team like that and then have two other losses on top of it (and it's not like LSU or Florida were all that good either this year).

Whether the B10 or SEC should or shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt is beside the point. They currently don't. The current structure is largely necessary because alternates would result in the ACC, B12, G5, and Independents taking the issue to court. The system is set up based on the agreement of the parties involved to avoid that. That it may change in coming years doesn't impact 2024. Boise State made it because they met the established criteria for entry. The same is true of Clemson. The winner of the NFC South will host a far better NFC North team in the playoffs - whether it should or shouldn't be that way is irrelevant; that's the way the rules/criteria are currently set. That leaves SMU and Indiana; take those out and Mississippi is still out with Alabama and Miami getting in.

Kiffin knew the criteria before the season started and knew the situation when the game against Florida kicked off. All he had to do was beat a team that he should beat, and the Rebs were in. The opportunity was on his stick, and he blew it.
