I realize not everyone has Flo or likes Flo - but the website has a good preview of the Cliff Keen
should be a great tournament ...
should be a great tournament ...
Notable omissions: No Tomasello (injury), McKenna (just got back from U23), or Snyder (even Captain America needs a break) for tOSU.
Ohio State hasn't been there for a few years, and they'll be at CKLV. If they're sending anyone, it probably won't be anyone ranked. OSU and Michigan will be sending B-teams b/c OSU is wrestling NC State in Italy January 5...."easily the toughest in-season tournament"...
...maybe, but I think the Scuffle is stronger, with -
Penn State
Ohio State
Oklahoma State
Lehigh
Michigan
Virginia
N Iowa
Stanford
Navy
Duke and others ....
... but thas jes my opinion ...
The big name he'll have to get through is Bryce Meredith.Calling it now...Yianni wins 141 at Keen.
Personal note about Bryce Meredith...I remember the 2016 NCAA Championships, when Bryce came out of the 14-seed to finish 2nd. Didn't know much about him other than his name, but he certainly became one of my favorites with his wrestling style...absolutely a fun guy to watch. The big name he'll have to get through is Bryce Meredith.
I know Nick Lee isn't a fully known quantity but if he's truly an AA candidate, and I think he could be, then Yianni is top 3 at 141. As deep as that class is I don't think there's anyone Yianni can't take down.
Also a friend of Bo Nickal's, I noticed on Instagram awhile back. I think they wrestled in youth programs together. I like watching Meredith wrestle too, he's as tough and creative as anyone in that class, but the class has a lot of parity; it feels like the top 8 guys can all wrestle each other within a point or two.Personal note about Bryce Meredith...I remember the 2016 NCAA Championships, when Bryce came out of the 14-seed to finish 2nd. And the 2nd Place was not a fluke, either. He beat #3 Jack, #6 M. Jordan, and #2 McKenna, before losing 3-2 to Heil.
Speaking of non-PSU guys that are fun to watch--I enjoy watching SDSU's Seth Gross. Also a friend of Bo Nickal's, I noticed on Instagram awhile back. I think they wrestled in youth programs together. Yes grew up together in Wyoming before Nickal moved to Texas. I sat behind his grandparents at nationals when it was in MSG and they were rooting for Meredith just as much as NickalAlso a friend of Bo Nickal's, I noticed on Instagram awhile back. That actually says KEVIN SnyderKyle Snyder 12-3? Are those season record so far?
I did a double take, my first inclination was the same as yours, but knowing that Kyle was heading to Iran the next week made me look closer. So dont feel bad.Yep, caught it and edited my comment, but you were too quick. They really should make him change his last name so I won’t be confused anymore!
At least make him change his first name to Luigi, or Tom.... not a K name.
parents who give multiple children the same first initial are cruel
or Ed Ruth.......
No...rostered and attached. I do remember a D2 guy or two in the past. Are unattached wrestlers allowed in this tournament?
Yianni's path looks tough, and will be a great learning experience for the young wrestler. Gasca is a big 141, so it looks like the challenge starts in the quarters...win and he likely gets Meredith in the Semi's. Win or lose, he'll probably also get one of Red or Thorn.Flo has posted pre-seeds [link here].
Unfortunately, at 141 would have Meredith and Yianni seeing each other in the semis.
1. Bryce Meredith, Wyo
2. Chad Red, Neb
3. Tommy Thorn, MN
4. Javier Gasca, Mich. State
5. Yianni Diakomihalis, Cornell
157 is also interesting:
1. Tyler Berger, Neb
2. Josh Shields, ASU
3. Micah Jordan, tOSU
4. Alec Pantaleo, UM
AT 174 Zahid and BoJo are 1/2
This tournament should provide a good sense of what KesShawn Hayes and Te’Shan Campbell will be able to do for them in March. Campbell will have to get through Branson Ashworth and David McFadden if he's going to see Logan Massa.
149 isn't as tough, Hayes has to get through Troy Heilmann and then Max Thomsen and then either McCrystal or Justin Oliver in finals.
I don't see Hayes getting through Heilmann, although if he does I think Thomsen handles him.Flo has posted pre-seeds [link here].

At least they didn't give them the same name ala George Foreman.
Good call. Crazy match though, Hayes blew a 6-0 lead to lose 10-8.I don't see Hayes getting through Heilmann, although if he does I think Thomsen handles him.
These Wick bros are FUN
