Going to 11
I can't remember who it was, maybe Jesse Palmer, who was saying that Penn State had two rough road losses this year, and that next year with Ohio State and Michigan State coming to Happy Valley, Trace McSorley running the offense....a special year is in store for Penn State.

Interesting analysis, and whoever it was couldn't be effusive enough. I'm wondering if anyone else sees it the same way....

I didn't see that but I thought McElroy was quite effusive in his praise of us during the broadcast, especially after reading many posts on here about his supposed dislike of us. I mean, I guess he might dislike us but if he does, he didn't let it affect his commentary last night.

Yeah. Me.

Next year can't be special until it has the 78SweetRevenge seal of approval

Next year will be a tough haul regardless of home schedule. Both Michigan teams will be very good and Wisc returns one side of the ball basically intact but has to largely replace the other side. And then of course there is Ohio State.

Already looking forward to it. Let's get it rolling.

Not sure why Michigan all of a sudden is going to be so good. They couldn't do better than 3rd place in the B1G East with a roster of 11 NFL draft picks in 2016. I'm definitely in show-me as far as they're concerned. And MSU needed a 3-1/2 hour rain delay, a dropped 4th down pass and an incredibly I'll timed roughing the passer penalty to beat us by 3 at their place. I really like our chances at home against them next year. And I don't think there is any love lost between Franklin and Dantonio. We'll be ready for Sparty.

Palmer was giving very high praise to program and our potential for next season

Every year some posters on this board tell us how "Michigan is going to be very good next year". How has that worked out lately?? Guess that maybe one year you'll be right.

To some here, any little negative makes that person a PSU hater.

Another year like the past two which is very good. McSorely and OL and WRs back so will be very good on O again. TE depth a concern. Dropoff to Sanders at RB of course but he will be solid. DE depth with Brown return should be very good. Windsor and Givens at DT will be solid but depth a concern, still two years from elite DT play for us which is exciting to think about. LB and S very concerned. Still two away at those imo as well. DB should be good with Reid return, big O, and Wade and Fields getting a lot of experience this year. Punting is great. FG can only be better which is strange to think. "Peak" Penn State still 2-3 years away imo which is scary to think.

Yeah, he said on air Penn State was the best big ten team this year and Trace was the best QB in the big ten.

I still think the majority of talking heads will downplay us next year due to Barkley leaving. We'll be under the radar and that's good in a way, but you still have to be ranked fairly high in the preseason to give you a better shot at the playoffs (or be in a crappy division).

There will be at least three NFL HC openings next week. Indy Arizona Chicago. Perhaps Cleveland and the Raiders.

Can't imagine Jimmy isn't being considered by at least one of those teams.

Would be quite a stir if he left. Especially considering the early signing day and some commits signed because if him. And if course this applies to any coach.

I’m actually looking forward to the fact we will get to see some new faces next year in the starting line up, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

It will certainly make things more interesting.

I see you've come over from the Liar Board.

It all starts on the lines and at QB. Penn State should be better across the board in those spots in 2018. There will be big holes to fill (TE, RB, LB, DB). But, there’s talent and some experience ready to step in.

I don’t see any of those teams reaching into the college ranks for someone without NFL HC experience. Grudog back to the Raiders and Schwartz from Philly will get one of them - Hairball to Da Bears - mark it down.

Would the Bears pay Harbaugh enough to leave UM? They don’t strike me as a franchise to foolishly break the bank on a headcase coach.

Harbaugh may jump to the NFL again but he's probably going to demand complete control. Will someone really give that to him? Maybe but I don't think it would be Chicago

Michigan is like a young stock that you are buying futures on or not believing in. They are young and talented and they were overrated coming into this year because they are Michigan and will always be overrated. Harbaugh still knows how to coach and they have talent and depth at skill positions returning. They also may have Shea Patterson who is a stud playing next year at QB. So they will be a problem.

Spartans also young and returning most everyone. They usually play better like this year when nothing expected of them compared to next year when a lot will be expected of them. Scrappy bunch who seems to have our O's number to a degree and find ways to win, especially at home. IF their QB can improve and be more consistent they will be a problem.

The B1G, specifically the East is absolutely loaded now with teams like Minnesota, Nebraska, and Purdue out west with good young coaches only set to improve.

It was so easy to just look at our returning (and incoming) superstar backfield and think we'd be ok without SB.

Then i'm watching the game and it hits me what makes SB special and that as good as Sanders or others might be, they have a long way to go before it reaches the point where I think they will take it to the house every time they touch it. EVERY time.

That was something we got with SB. You knew that if he broke free of the 4 guys meeting him at the ball, he was gone. Haven't felt that way about many RB's... ever. He was lightning in a bottle, a once in a lifetime treat I hope we all thoroughly appreciated.

I remember that feeling in the stadium when KiJana got the ball in his final year. Also, to a certain extent the second half of LJ final season.

Michigan was the youngest team in Div1 football this year and still managed 8 possibly 9 wins in a tough conference with 2 had QBs. They return the offense and defense pretty much intact.
Go Blue!

I appreciate that you are not hiding the fact that you are a Michigan fan behind a PSU username facade lol

best of luck next year (meaning no injuries or stuff like that) I hope you understand that I must root for your team to lose every game by multiple touchdowns

Spot on but not totally appreciated in the Nittany nation. Lost is the concern and manpower the opposition expended on SB on every play. That will be missing next year along with the lightening in a bottle.
