We set the field a few weeks ago, but just made our announcement this week. We added a new squad which makes this post relevant here. Just a hint - we're hoping PSU is home that weekend so we may get a Saturday visit from an interested dad. You can see the full details here:
www.escapetherock.org

Each year we keep getting stronger and stronger and the decisions get tougher to make. This past year we had 38 state and national prep champs compete along with 146 medalists. Next year looks to be even deeper.

I know the answer is gonna be obvious and I'm gonna look like a fool but come on.....who's the dad?

I thought Casey but State College high isnt a new entry. Or is Hayden wrestling for Bellefonte?

I’m guessing the Bullis School. Top 10 freshman at 126.

State College IS a new entry this year. The last time they competed at ETR was in 2007 when Steve Bosak took 3rd after falling to Big Springs Mallie Shuster in the semis. So they are new AND returning.

If you follow the link to our website you will see the complete announcement. See what happens when you make it past the bullet points/cliff notes?.;)

Also, Bellefonte is making their debut at ETR this year as they should have a strong squad, and Glendale returns so our D6 presence is STRONG.

Lol. I swear to you I clicked on link. Now I did skim read looking only to see state college but someone tell me how in the hell I can miss them not once but twice in the write up. Lol

Good discussion includes ETR, Powerade and gets into the proposed weight class change as well.

The SC area needs to bring some big time HS wrestling tournaments to the area. After all, it’s the Olympus of wrestling.
King of the Mountain is right down the road. Great tournament.

Cumberland Valley is not so right down the road, but still central PA. The Kickoff Classic is the best opening weekend tourney in PA. Then you go KOM pre-Christmas, Powerade (and Hurricane and Trojan Wars at Chambersburg coming on) post-Christmas, ETR mid-January and on to your dual postseason and individual postseason.

Considering that CV and KOM compete either directly or indirectly against Ironman and Beast respectively, Powerade against a bunch of Christmas tourneys, ETR against VA Duals at times and a lot of conference/county mandatory tourneys, growing a tournament to what I think you are looking for with your post is not as easy as it looks.

Would also need a school willing to host -- which means State High, Bellefonte, or St. Joe's. They all compete in good tourneys -- would any be willing to sacrifice something on their existing schedules? Do they have sufficient facilities? (St. Joe's likely doesn't.)

A pre-season or post-season event might be a better option -- though there are already a bunch of those as well, and these would be 100% clubs and individuals, no school alignment.

And to be completely honest: Happy Valley isn't remotely Mt Olympus for HS wrestling. As far as that goes, the tourneys Dice cited (at least) are in stronger HS areas.
