Excitement Index of D1 Wrestlers

Entertaining read, especially regarding Retherford:
"What he has is a mental approach that will make you question your goals while wrestling him. He will break you; it’s just a matter of when."

My only beef is the exclusion of IMar. Love him or hate him, he is damn exciting to watch. Outside of The Prosecution (SHP 2016), he is probably at the top of my list.

Homer Alert: Although the article discusses only current D1 wrestlers, I can't help but mention Scott Moore and Q as a couple of guys that would rank at/near the top of my all-time excitement list.

Agree. IMart is every bit exciting to watch and considerably more than a little homerism by including Randy Cruz instead.

Cruzzzz....who I have watched since early elementary school and find so little exciting about his wrestling that I mentioned in a post after the BJC match if I could have left to pee during our match with them, that would have been the one. Clearly..to me..he is at the bottom of my excitement index. That place is reserved for Stallalonga et al.

I like Nickal a lot, of course, but Nolf is by far the most fun to watch for me.

My favorite part:
We seem to be in the midst of several changes; more wrestlers in the last 5 years are offensive. It seems that fewer college guys are planning to win by 1 or 2 points late in the match (a terrible strategy). The physical head pounding, collar tie Iowa style that Gable wrestling morphed into is being countered by improved technique and aggressiveness. The newer over-tie slide-by is lethal against someone that just pushes forward but isn’t looking to attack low.

  1. Wrestling evolves to favor offense.
  2. ???
  3. Profit!

Yeah, there's at least 1 much more exciting wrestler @141 in the EIWA: Jared Prince.

Me too. The sport has changed. Very soon we will know if Blands (my answer to "Carl") is capable of adapting and evolving to the 21st Century. He's certainly talked the talk in his pressers for years.
