FC- Eagles Parade Thursday 11am

Yeah, that surprised most people. The original rumor was Tuesday. However, the City refused to release any plans, in part because the City released plans before Super Bowl XXXIX (2005), and Belichick used that as motivation for the Patriots leading up to that contest. Then the rumors started surfacing on Saturday and Sunday that the parade would take place on Wednesday. There were even articles online this morning that cited Eagles sources that the parade would take place on Wednesday.

So Philadelphia finally releases the details early this afternoon, and the parade is scheduled for Thursday.

Oh well, the day was a minor detail. Regardless of the day that was picked, the expectations are that millions will be along the parade route.

The inclement weather forecast for Wednesday may have been a deciding factor

I went down for the Phillies Parade and if there is any advice I can give, it is stay away from Septa - took me 3 1/2 hours to get home, at least the ride was free since there was no way they could collect tickets because the trains were as packed as they are in Tokyo. Friends I know that drove had no problems getting in or out. Suburban Station was a complete sh&t show.

Didn’t they close down septa trains because too many people flooded into the city for the Phillies parade? Those going for the Eagles parade should go early and have a back up plan if they close the train system again.

The second Flyers one was pretty bad--we got lucky as I lived in Warminster, which was the end of the line. They didn't even bother stopping at stations after a bit. I remember smaller kids sitting up in the luggage racks...

The parade should hit center city right during the lunch hour. It will be great for people working downtown.

Look forward to watching the parade and the speeches. Just hope none of the Eagles coaches or players get caught saying "Not one, not two, not three, etc."

Amy Fadool last night introduced the post game show on Comcast by saying they were the world F’n champions. Shades of Chase Utley. Good job.

Same here. City Officials were telling everyone to take public transportation because the roads would be a mess. Folks were getting stranded at Septa Stations on the Mainline because the rides were full.
Meanwhile I breezed up 95N and parked near Franklin Square Park with no hassle. Walked up Market St about 7 blocks with my daughter. The crowds were so thick that we went underground to cross Broad and come out on JFK. When it was done we walked back to the car and eased on down 95S.

I envy the kids cutting class. I will remember the Sixers parade forever.

lol, I know the feeling.

The Philadelphia Public and Parochial schools have announced that they will be closed on Thursday. I haven't monitored whether any suburban schools have taken the same approach.

That was an absolute disaster. They didn't have the trains or the personnel to handle the crowds. Most people waited for hours, but at least got a free ride for their wait.

they didn't close them -- they just couldn't handle the numbers, so the trains were way off schedule, and people had to wait for hours.

My firm's president, who is an Eagles season ticket holder has offered to throw an Eagles Victory Party on Thursday, in an attempt to keep people in the office, and not take the entire day off, so he does not lose most of the office for the day. We have a 56 inch TV in our lunch room, so it will basically be sitting there, with food and drink, and watch the parade.

Frankly, I think that is a better option than fighting traffic and people. Plus, you don't have to worry about anyone stealing your horse.

They had a parade in Boston yesterday to celebrate what most Bostonians consider a largely successful Patriots season that just fell a bit short. Photo below.

Wife and I were planning to drive up from NC to go to the parade

until yesterday, when I got hooked for a last minute work trip.... I'm cool with it. Won't be the last parade I have a chance to go to!

that's unfortunate. after all the wait, and all the pain and anguish over the years, I think this year's parade will be epic.

The Birds are set up nicely for future years, but a few other teams can make the same claim.

I had dislocated my shoulder in 1980 and was in an immobilizer (I was 17) and my mom wouldn't let me go to the parade with friends. I figured I would just go to the next parade ... who knew it would be 28 years later?! Our school district (Spring-Ford) said the Phillies parade would not be an excused absence, so I wrote notes for my daughters saying they had "the phlu". I would be damned if I wasn't taking them to see it. We were in line for tickets at Strafford when a train pulled up, so we figured we would just catch the next one. We watched two zip by completely packed, got in the car and headed down the Blue Route. No issues with traffic down or back.

As happy as I am the Eagles finally won one, my plan is to take off from work to watch the parade with some friends at a local bar. One kid is in RI and the other up at UP, so between that and the weather I don't have to be there for this one. Maybe the Flyers will actually win a Stanley Cup one of these years?!

Driving down from Reading area what time do you think we should leave? I'm thinking 6-6:30.

Stadium parking lots will not be open. Zoo parking lots not open. Museum lots not open. Septa says even with pass seats not guaranteed.
