He's more likely looking for a job before that when Marrone gets swept out of Jacksonville.

It took Donovan three years to become the number 2 (of 2) running backs coach, not exactly fast-tracking it. And he's working for Terry Robiskie, whose career trajectory is downward.

They just hired John DePhillipo as OC. Was that supposed to be a joke?
I said in 3 yrs, they just hired DePhillipo who will either be fired or a HC by next year. So after that who knows? If TC likes him you never know in that league. Didnt someone in that league just hire a guy as HC you never won anything in college?

actually he is working for Tom Coughlin, who's career trajectory at this time is unknown. Marrone is just a spear holder.

Same difference. Coughlin hasn't promoted him at what would be considered a rapid pace.

In three years, he will lucky to be a position coach for a low level P5 school.

Big difference beeeen OC and running backs coach. Glad he’s working.

Either Donovan just doesn't have much skill set as taking that long to become an assistant RB coach with 20 years in the business is really bad. Or Donovan would just rather finish his career as a more football staffer, make a salary and benefits like any other profession and not have to put in the crazy hours and high stress of being a coach.

A very logically-challenged conclusion.

What’s a position coach in the nfl typically make? I think I read bama pays their o-line coach ~900k.

in the NFL after the O- D coordinators, the O line coach is typically well paid. IIRC Alex Gibbs was making over $1,000,000 per year when he was with the Falcons circa 2004. The RB coach at times, might be one of the lowest paying jobs, but still they have to compete with what colleges are throwing around too. How many guys at scUM are making $1,000,000+ for this year. Anyway a quick search and I found this, which is a little dated....

The article posted by Zach Lloyd is about 12 years old, so the information is rather outdated. The average pay for a position coach was $350,000-$375,000 in 2011 and is probably about $400,000 now, but there's a lot of variation.

I got into the wrong line of work.

3 years on any staff is almost impossible to predict, but I doubt this one happens. I'd give Gattis a better shot than Donovan and he has yet to call an offensive play on his own.

I wish him well. It isn't enough that he was fired at PSU? We need to follow him and wish further bad fortune? He has a wife and three children.
