Suspended a year and then back on the team. Not sure if admitting he wasn't drunk or drinking at the time helps or hurts. Leads the team in rushing this year! #culture

Warning: Video is pretty disturbing. Punch is at :40 mark.

Will be interesting to see if NFL teams will draft him. You can't convince me that what I saw in that video was a one time thing. He hit a girl from behind. It is the lowest of all low moves. I certainly wouldn't want him on a team so owned, managed or played on.

What lead up to that? He obviously made a point of approaching her and initiating a conversation. Is he really blaming her when he obviously sought her out?

Um, Bob Stoop let him back on the team after one year. If this guy can play, someone will draft him - bank on it.

Does it even matter what led up to it? I think he claims that she was telling racial slurs. But in reality it doesn't make a difference what she was saying...

"I was not drinking," Mixon said in the apology, which was sent to The Oklahoman. "I have never had a drink in my life. At the end of the night, a group of apparently drunk people started harassing us. Some of my teammates were wise enough to leave. I did not, and I am sorry."

Poor guy and his big tough football buddies were being harassed - by, um, this girl I guess? Yeah. Anyway, there ya go.

Thanks for the reasonable reply. In addition to being a woman beater, the guy is also a liar. His claim of teammates leaving while he did not is ludicrous. The video clearly shows him entering and seeking out the woman. How exactly did he "not leave"? What a POS.

Why isn't Oklahoma destroying their own fans for supporting this behaviour by buying season tickets? Clearly the fans are responsible for the football machine in Oklahoma. That is the gold standard set by Penn State for handling something like this. It worked like a charm here in PA.
The sad part is, her mother is an OU grad, bought season tickets since 2005 and OU is the only school the victim applied to. She actually stayed at OU and is graduating this month.

You don't know how much joy I take in the fact that this douchebag's life is over.

Get your shine box out, ya little bitch.

Hitting women = kill yourself

The one year suspension was his red-shirt season, right?
That's correct. I've also read OU hindered his arrest that night. The police went to his dorm and he wasn't there. They returned and were advised by an RA that university counsel told her she shouldn't tell the police if he was there nor give the police a key to his room.

I agree that it's sad, I would be pissed to the high heavens if I were her father. I have a son too, who if he grew up in another environment might have been a Second Mile kid 20 years ago. We all have kids. Penn State can take their group shame and stick it straight up their shizholios if you get my drift. We were all made out to be the sickos. I will point out the irrationality of this until I die.

Welp, the good news for OU fans is that some of their recruits seem to dig this kind of behavior....

The Joe Mixon video is out.

It is bad. Indefensible, even.

But that didn’t stop recruits committed to the University of Oklahoma to show their support on twitter, using the hashtag #SoonerStrong with a clinched fist emoji.

You know what? You use a hashtag to show support when a family member goes through cancer. This week, for example, the hashtag #SagerStrong was used to honor Craig Sager, longtime TNT voice.

You don’t use a hashtag like “SoonerStrong” to support Joe Mixon punching a woman’s face. This is the most disgusting, ignorant things I have ever seen.

These are OU recruits.

Stoops is a piece of Shi* and he should be called out on it for allowing him to ever play another down for Oklahoma. Any adult man who stands by one of his players for doing something like this needs to get out of coaching. A year suspension? Are you kidding me? If you hit a female like he did you should be locked up for a few years. I don't care what she said to him. He got 100 hours of community service. What a crock. The recruits reaction is troubling to say the least.

If I were her father, I'd be in prison right now.

Not one ESPN head has called for Stoops resignation. Not one.

That's right. Make a joke on a thread about a sickening attack you little child.

You're a joke. Get bent.

I'm just "rue-ful" that a fine gent like you (you ARE a gent - aren't you Gunsie?) wasn't available to defend that poor Gal - or at least to act as her "avenger" - or, failing that, to at least challenge Mixon to a vigorous "wrassle"

Who loves ya' more than me Gunsie?

No one! That's who!

FACT!!!!!!!

Does not appear he was suspended from school, just from the fb team. Oh, and he did not use any eligibility . Kind of seems a little lax compared to MN.

Well, they did draft Taylor Lewan in the first round after he threatened to "re-rape" an alleged rape victim at Michigan.

While Mixon's actions are horrible I find reactions to this tape amusing. The media will stoke outrage over this video, along with the usual feminist suspects and utter the same hollow platitudes concerning violence against women, but then everyone will get hyped about the next female UFC match and celebrate 2 women doing much worse to each other than Mixon did here.

They ought to stoke outrage over the idea that he is not in jail. He is going to continue doing this. He thinks it is his right to do so.

LOL - went right over your head. Don't feel bad though most of society is in the same boat.

Because an elite athlete sucker punching an unsuspecting woman is the same as a female UFC match and any outrage over the former is manufactured and ingenuine because of the latter. Got it.

Same guys as the:

"If I was in that locker room, Sandusky would never walk upright - or eat a solid meal - again"

demographic

The outrage shouldn't be over the video itself. It should be over fools have zero imagination to know what happened when A hit B and B suffers a broken jaw and several other bones....but it takes a video to know how violent the hit is.

The shame on Bob Stoops shouldn't come from us but when Stoops looks in the mirror. A suspension as a RS year is well....not a suspension. Hard to know the thought process, and maybe there are facts I don't know.

Scratch that. There are facts I don't know. But I did not need to see a video to change an opinion.

You are really comparing what he did to a UFC fight? What is wrong with you? The UFC fighters actually have a chance to defend themselves. He knocked that poor girl out and the sad part about it is that it looked normal to him. Just knocked her out and then takes off.

She also hit her head on the tabe on the way down. Jaws wired shut. She could very easily have died.
