PITTSBURGH—Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi announced disciplinary actions for four players prior to the Panthers' opening of training camp on August 1.

Senior defensive end Rori Blair has been dismissed from the program for "conduct detrimental to the program."
Junior offensive tackle Alex Bookser will be suspended for the season opener for his involvement in an offseason legal situation involving a motor vehicle.
Senior linebacker Quintin Wirginis and junior safety Jordan Whitehead will both be suspended for the opening three games of the season for violation of team policy.

LET THE BEATDOWN BEGIN!

Most of us knew it was going to be a loss going to Penn state. Then someone was dumb enough to agree to play Oklahoma State the week after. Then Georgia Tech after that. Pitt will be 1-3 after 4 weeks and that will probably sink the season marking a giant step back for Narduzzi.

in FitBit terms, Whitehead just lost about 25,000 steps by missing the PSU game. I was looking forward to watching him chase the Nits receivers.

That's too bad. I never like to see any ballplayer get himself jammed up. You have such a tremendous opportunity - why eff it up?

Wirginis was going to be a starting LB. He's no all-American but he can play some. I don't know anything about Blair. Bookser is a very, very good player, he'll be back against us. He'll be a mainstay on their OL. When they MUST get a first down running it, you can sell out that they will run over Bookser's side. Whitehead might be the best athlete of all of them and Pitt also used him a lot on offense, lined up at WR or running their jet sweep.

That's two very big puzzle pieces that just fell on the floor.

We're going to see defensive holding on just about every play and have Narduzzi complaining that it's our receivers fault. Hopefully they have EMTs standing by for when he bursts a few blood vessels. Pitt should have at least 200 penalty yards come September 9th.

That Virginia Tech game was about the jokiest exhibition I ever saw.

Pitt's defensive backs were not very good at all last year. But why would you make them play press-man when it's obvious they have no ability to do it? A coach is supposed to design a scheme that HELPS his players maximize the things they CAN do and minimize what they CAN'T do.

VT had an outstanding receiver, an okay receiver, and an okay quarterback. They shredded Pitt again, and again, and again. The Pitt DB's had no alternative except to clutch and grab (and they got flagged for it every time - it was so obvious) because they had no chance to play the defense Genius called. That is total blockhead coaching.

They may lose to Youngstown and be 0 - 4. That'd be a darn shame.
