Feel a little bad for Mrs. Lee...

Tikk10 - if you’re reading any of these posts, I’m curious about something. I’m sure that Mrs Lee has received an awful lot of unsolicited and unwanted publicity over the last 3 days because of ESPN capturing her reaction on video and broadcasting it. Does she have any legal recourse available?
Ya, she broke the if you are caught being an entitled jackass in public on camera, you are owed something law.

Buried in all that fine print when you buy a ticket is that you give up the rights to your likeness while you are in attendance.

Yes - acting like a buffoon in public does have its consequences. I'm not suggesting that I think the Lee's taking any legal action would be a good thing. I'm just curious if there would be any legal justification if they tried to do it.

The wise person would take their lumps and move on rather than drawing more attention, I opine.

My thoughts on Mom: She's supposed to be an expert in the martial arts(judo?). Isn't part of the training the development of some ability to retain a high degree of composure during stressful situations, at least the mental strength to, maybe, not break down completely into sobbing and destroying property? Just a thought.
That's her kid. I have no problem with it. I don't understand why ESPN needs to show parents on camera until the match is over. It's kind of disgusting.

Justice IS blind after all. I think she stands a chance.

“Its kind of disgusting” (agreed) but they could not agree to it and kindly ask NOT too be filmed. I bet ESPN would honor their request.

Unfortunately they seem like the type of family that loves being in front of a camera. Didnt work out so well this time. 15 seconds of SHAME.

That's my point what law on Earth prohibits people to be videoed acting like jackass is in a public venue? None!

I was just thinking it wasn't a very good ending for the Iowa recruiting video that Spencer's last season was turned into. Or maybe it was. 😂

I had recently stayed away from reading this thread and most of wrestling twitter because I couldn't take any more complaining that they shouldn't have shown Lee's mom, AB hysteria, any more ridiculous talk about a punt year, and now that Yanni should be the Hodge...
In a moment of weakness, I clicked on this thread this morning and was quickly reminded why the wrestling room forum is so great!!! Multiple great posts!!

ESPN just couldn't fathom that Spencer might lose, so they failed to find Ramos' parents to show in celebration. The rest of us didn't really see it coming, but at least we can see it now.

Another thing I have been on the look out for is tape of the Iowa corner during or immediately after Spencer was pinned. It may not exist, or at least I have not seen it. Any help would be appreciated.

None that I can see. The nearest claims an attorney would be looking at are invasion of privacy, false light defamation, and right of publicity. For too many reasons, none of those fit here. ESPN is well within its rights to air crowd reactions to the event they paid the rights to broadcast, and I believe that buried in the fine print of every ticket are numerous waivers and releases encompassing anything ESPN might air with your name, image, and likeness. That said, ESPN is aware that appearing cruel can backfire with viewers and were likely gauging negative feedback (against them) to any such post on social media, but I don't think they were ever concerned about legal liability.
