An easy solution is to catch catchable balls. That won't be tolerated in the NFL.
Or could it be that he was upset that his position coach was fired? Or that in discussions with the staff he wasn't assured of a starting position this fall?Let's be clear. JJ is leaving because he did not feel he was developing like he should be. Whether thats his own fault, coaches etc who knows. An answer will probably come after next year. Perhaps the final straw was yet another WR coach coming in, his third in 3 years.
Think? SMHHe has to get back to where he was in 2017 in terms of catching technique and then he has to improve route-running, adjustment to the ball in the air and try to learn how to be a deep sideline threat.
I would think his best bet is to step down a level in competition -- play for a mid-major or lower-tier Power 5 program that throws the ball a ton -- some place where he will get targeted a lot. Some place were he can get a LOT of game practice and hopefully rack up some stats.
After what happened in 2018, PSU couldn't invest in targets for him if he's re-learning how to catch a football. The investment needs to be in the younger players now. I think as people think this through they can see why he has to transfer to have any hope of playing NFL football.

He's down he can catch. His problems were mental. You've got to, first, catch. Everything else comes after that. Gesicki is the perfect example as to a guy that couldn't catch a cold then caught everything in sight the following yearHe has to get back to where he was in 2017 in terms of catching technique and then he has to improve route-running, adjustment to the ball in the air and try to learn how to be a deep sideline threat.
