Fix certified at 125

...grain of salt since it's per Pyles on frl...
I doubt that's false -- it's easily verifiable by anyone with a Trackwrestling account. Whether or not Fix drops is another matter.

If it were me, I would. The cut might not be easy, but the other guy has no knees, and even when healthy was slower than RBY. And Matt Ramos getting 2 takedowns has to be encouraging.

I really doubt he switches midseason. I hear this rumor every year also. If he wanted to vision quest Spencer, he would have started the year at 125. Same with last year.

He wouldn't have last year. At 133 he'd have to go thru 1 national champ. At 125 he might have to go thru 2 of them.

Thankfully we didn't get a Fix-Suriano Part Deux.

This one is a head scratcher for me even given the likelihood RBY adds a little more distance between the two.

We will have to see how effectively he operates down at 125, but to have any chance against Spencer he will need a strong 3rd period gas tank. Not an easy proposition.

He should coast into either a semi or finals match with Spencer, that much seems sure. Someone smarter than I will a look at all of the mutual schedules to opine if he will get enough quality wins to challenge Glory for the #2 seed.

Spencer looks fully back to form to me. I don't see Fix taking him out, but for fans it certainly adds a lot of intrigue, and at least a modicum of a legitimate test for #4.

One thing is absolutely crystal clear. If he were to deny Spencer his inevitable final swan song (yet again), this is the stuff of legend that will be talked about a decade from now.

Consider this head unscratched.

I don't believe Fix is going to drop to 125. OKST has something like 11 duals left on their schedule and Iowa is their last dual before the Big 12. He would already have been on his descent if he wants the minimum of 8 matches for ranking purposes. Also, what is he going to do against Iowa, wrestle Spencer in the last dual of the regular season? I'm not buying it.

I read somewhere that Fix wants to beat RBY so he stays at 33!!

I am pretty sure DeSanto wanted to beat RBY. Want to doesn't mean much, especially when history says you can't even score any points.
well we knew De Santo wasnt beating himI give Fix a better shot!Maybe Fix likes being a runnerup and maybe he wants to win at 125!!we will know in March!

Do we have any weigh-in numbers? That usually reveals whether they’re testing the waters. As much as I love RBY, history would talk a lot more about a win over Spencer in March.

I haven't heard anything concrete and who even knows if Pyles (the only cert clarification I have heard) is correct on that.

It means a lot in the context of will he drop to 125 or not. There was an interview with Fix at Pan Ams right after RBY said he was returning and Fix said he was happy RBY was coming back because he wanted another shot at him.

Seriously doubt Fix gives a crap about the "minimum 8 matches for ranking purposes." If he drops to 125, he's winning B12s. The only effect would be on his seed -- whether he faces Lee in the finals or earlier. He's not going to care about anybody else at that weight.

Not facing Lee in the dual is a fair point, though that's not entirely up to him.

Maybe Vito Arujau moving up has something to do with Fix moving down? At 133, he knows he has to go through Vito before getting to RBY. At 125, he would only have to go through Glory before Lee. Maybe he thinks that's an easier path?

I doubt Fix goes 125 without knowing he will be on the opposite side of Spencer. 2,2,2,3 just doesn't have the same ring to it as 2,2,2,2.

Is Vito a tougher matchup than Glory? That doesn't seem obvious to me.

Fix on Saturday night would be a different opponent for Spencer than on Friday night with another day of weigh-ins left. I think Fix is the underdog at 125 or 133, so if I am him, I choose food.

I also don't think it is a given that RBY, Fix, or S Lee winning is a given... I agree RBY would beat Fix but when it is only one match? - bad things do and can happen at the high level these athletes are at.

Bro, he ain’t running to Spencer, he’s running from RBY. Only a n00b thinks otherwise. Smart guys like you and me know the truth.

Maybe Fix or Lee will ask the other to MFF the dual match.
