Flo Preseason Weight Rankings ...

Evan Henderson confirmed to be at 141 this season; Flo now has him as the new #1.

Hope you enjoyed your couple days of glory Jimmy, lol.
So maybe Flo isn't a propaganda arm of Penn State Wrestling?

Some paranoid fans were outraged:

Some 165 news from Middle Finger Lake: Dean isn't the only Cornell starter taking an Olympic shirt. Apparently Palacio qualified as a (dual) citizen of Colombia.

¡Muy bien! ¡Mas cerveza, por favor!

The news plus Cornell's lineup (including the 133 battle between Garrett and Grey) here:
http://true-wrestling.com/2015/09/cornell-big-red-2015-16-lineup-2-olympic-red-shirts/

El jefe, link doesn't work. In any case the Ivies don't allow redshirts so he would have to take what they call a Voluntary Leave of Absence from school for a year. From our point of view it would look just like a redshirt. With Dean and Palacio out of the lineup I don't see Cornell in the NCAA title hunt.

He started at 174, bumped to 184, then dropped to 174 again.

Perry was 11-1 as a true frosh, all at 184.

Then 25-7 as a RS frosh, all at 184

He started his soph year 11-0 at 184 before dropping to 174 and staying for the rest of his career

Hammond ranked #12, higher than I expected for a national NQ last year.

Only 2 qualifiers behind him, Garrett Sutton and Adam Fierro, both going 0-2 at NCAA's. Not a stretch at #12.

My guess is that this weight class will surprise some, even the PSU faithful. With Rasheed and Beitz battling with Hammond, an AA finish at 165 is a reasonable expectation.

Sure hope you're right!

New Sure hope you're right!

Me too!! And to qualify my comment, I'm not stating it'll be Hammond starting (hopefully, no one read it that way). May very well be, but any of the 3 are possible. It'll be fun watching this play out...

Just a reminder from last year: "Good Hammond" is capable of knocking off just about anyone not named Dieringer or Jordan, as very nearly happened against Flo's preseason #4 ...

01/01 - 01/02/2015 Southern Scuffle - Cons. Round 4 -Ethan Ramos (North Carolina) over Garett Hammond (Penn State) (SV-1 11-9)

The question about Hammond has always been consistency, can he avoid upset losses and string together enough wins to place? If he goes this year, it means he will have earned that trust from the coaches. If not, then our starter will be someone about as dangerous and also more consistent.

BTW, also noticing from the 165 rankings: Palacio #8 (despite supposed Olympic shirt). No Massa or Wiercioch, guess they're both headed to 174.

Here is 165 http://www.flowrestling.org/rankings/college/weight/165

So the B1G has 2 in the top 5, 3 in the top 10, 6 in the top 15, and 8 in the top 20.

Flo's podcast to explain their 165 rankings can be accessed at THIS LINK.

I must have missed the announcement that Steven Rodrigues (Illini) was moving up from 141 last season to 165 this season.

Garrett Peppelman will get some recognition this year.

After 6 weights, FLO's rankings look very solid.

PSU wrestlers thus far ranked 2, 12, 2, 2, 7, 12

Thought jimmy was #1?

Jimmy was #1 in the initial release of the 141 rankings by Flo.

Those rankings did not include Evan Henderson (UNC), as they thought that he was moving up to 149. When they got confirmation that Henderson was staying at 141, Flo revised their 141 rankings, and Evan Henderson is now ranked #1, and Jimmy is now ranked #2.

Thorn is mentioned in the podcast as a guy who could figure in the rankings later in the season.

Apparently, CP was biased against the Thorns while he was doing the rankings but had some counseling and mended his ways before he recorded the podcast.

All it took was a well placed comment and I used Chickenman's John Gotti avatar to get the point across.

That is not John Gotti. It is actually a picture of Chickenman Testa. He was a leader of the Philadelphia mafia and literally blown up in Philly like the Springsteen song says....

Kinda like how Jammen's profile pic isn't J Rob circa 1973, it's really John Holmes.

You are correct, sir.

"Well they blew up the Chickenman in Philly last night - and they blew up his house too"

When I was picking a nickname for Rivals it was between CMT and Harry "the Hunchback" Riccobene. The latter was too long. I'm a big fan of Mob history and my home city of Philadelphia.

A little Philly mob trivia: One of the guys responsible for the nail bomb under Testa's front porch was shot and killed himself a while later at a mob hangout near 8th and Wharton streets in South Philly known as the Buckeye Club.

The ties between evil-doing and tOSU run pretty deep.
