Although I don't know why he would want it. they are in bad shape
I disagree, if he ever leaves it would be for USC over FSU. USC is, and will always be, set up to be the Alpha in that conference and the king’s of the west coast. FSU has 2 other blue bloods in its own state, and Clemson as the Alpha in the conference.
They were basically Alabama from '91-'03 and seemed poised to start another run after their title in '13. Imagine if they could have slipped into a playoff those years they dropped one to Miami early or Florida late.
Perhaps.....I look at it much like I view Nebraska. Changing coaches is not always the best path to the "promised land." I'm not a lover of Jimbo Fisher, but he was bad mouthed by FSU fans (all who felt FSU "deserved better"). Perhaps FSU fans have truly gotten what they deserve?
Now that is something I could give my unconditional support.
Anything is "possible." However, I will always fear Texas, ND and USC when it comes to places CJF might see as intriguing.
They can’t afford Franklin. They tried a few years ago. That program already lost one top coach they had because of lack of resources and support. They are currently a mess with a poor culture. Even the fake rumors would be laughable.
I get that. But not sure I believe USC wants Franklin as much as the media says
FSU has worse facilities and is more stingy than Penn State. No reason CJF would even consider it.
To me all moves for Franklin would be lateral after you analyze facilities, money, fan base…. PSU is a destination job with very few upward moves. Upward moves are risky within such a small subset. Who wants to replace Saban? USC may throw a lot of money at him but will expect big results within 3 years.
I think he only leaves for personal reasons. Maybe he is a guy who likes to rebuild and enjoys the challenge of trying to fix something like like USC or Texas. So be it.
More likely is family. If the wife and kids want to live somewhere else like Tallahassee the it might happen. That is a very personal and understandable outcome.
