So is Pitt head coach Keith Gavin.

  • Gabe Dean

Is this card underwhelming or a good start for a first time event?

I really like the lineup as is - we don't have a prohibitive favorite like DT who we know wouldn't be touched, we and we have two dudes (Gavin, Dean) who I'll be very interested to see how they stack up. Intriguing matchups and should be some fun scores. If this ends up being a coming out party for Gabe Dan to unretire I'd be stoked, dude never really gave freestyle anything close to a full shot.

Seeds are out

Martin ranked #8 in THE WORLD but not top 4 here? Nice work flo. No accident he gets Shak first round?

I still haven't figured out where Flo came up with MyMar being #8 in the world. IMHO, he could be that good but his results (or lack thereof) don't warrant that yet. That said World Rankings for freestyle are not, IMHO, worth much do to the limited amount of competitions. That is even worse since COVID with NO official competitions for 6+ months now.

Looks like you are getting your wish. He's now registered for Senior Nationals as well.

Martin will be the the top seed here without question. After him though, probably Brooks and then a guessing game after that as no one really has much in terms of freestyle experience recently.

Take a look at the results for 8-20 and on, they're a complete mess. It's basically like a professor grading papers with the old throw em down the stairs method and see where they land. Myles is much closer to 20 than he is to 7 in what is a pretty weak weight class internationally. That's how you end up with rankings that look weird on paper.
