Football Stadium naming rights now trickling down to colleges....

Years ago Louisville sold naming rights to Papa John's. It's the first instance I can recall of it happening with a college stadium. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see some type of naming rights attached to the renovated Beaver Stadium. It'll upset a lot of people but a modern stadium won't come cheap.

Papa John's founder was a Louisville alum too, right?

The ultimate money grab

BNY Mellon Field @ Potatoes of Pennsylvania Stadium on Merck Drive

I think Pollack Furs field at Beaver Stadium goes well together. But the anti-fur people would go bonkers. (tic)

The Paterno family should sue PSU for $100 million. Then they should offer PSU $100 MILLION for the right to name the stadium Paterno field.

Ira Lubert Field at Beaver Stadium.

prefer Zino's Field. But would love to see a crowd sourced effort to do Paterno Stadium (with overly crazy Lasch building just to piss everyone off).

Ok, maybe a lot

Well, the Blue-White Game was presented by Xfinity this year so these names are probably not as far of a reach as you might think.

First I've heard of it........ Kentucky goes with Kroger( the grocery chain ) Field. Obviously, it's all grab for the almighty dollar. PSU base would go ballistic if this would affect our brand. But you never know what can transpire with our BOT. Reportedly, Yellow Bird buses looking at Pitt . http://www.ukathletics.com/news/comprehensive-partnership-with-kroger-announced-05-01-2017
I like the idea of renaming Beaver Stadium to Highway Pizza Field.

Pitt doesn't have this problem. They have no field to name. They rent the Steelers' Stadium.

Unless the Beaver County Times, Busy Beaver Hardware Stores, or John Cafferty step up to the plate to buy the naming rights, I'm not interested.

All joking aside, and some of them are really good, I think it's a very real possibility for the future of Beaver Stadium, unless fundraising for the Master Plan is going gangbusters. Anyone have any insight as to how it's going?

barbour's got this.

Unfortunately, I think that naming rights is exactly going to happen. Sandys wonder boy Phil did it at Minnesota. My guess is candidates would include Comcast, Verizon, PNC, Hershey, and of course MM's favorite, Dicks. Playboy may swoop in and keep the Beaver name.

Comcast, Verizon, and Hershey's would all actually be sensible choices. Comcast and Verizon may even get into a bidding war since they're fighting for the same territory in PA. And Hershey? It's one of the most well known corporations in the commonwealth and is already a corporate partner (as is Comcast and PNC) so the relationship is already there.

Or, maybe sponsors could team up. Maybe we could have the Hershey-Sheetz Stadium.

Why not Arcadia stadium?
I guess cause when you google Beaver Stadium you don't get a porn site. ( The internet search engine results for Beaver College, lead to a name change to Arcadia. )

Read more closely my man. I said it was the first I COULD RECALL. Dang, some of you people really bend over backward to try to prove someone wrong no matter how inconsequential the point may be. Congratulations though. You sure told me how it is....

Esten is a piker. Got $1.4mm/year for 25 years for the naming rights to Minnehaha's stadium. UDub got $4.1mm a year for 10 from Alaska Airlines. Let's hope L'il Phil's business acumen has improved (and that Franklin keeps winning big).

It's great exercise for folks on this board....bending over backwards, jumping to conclusions, hand waving.....fittest website on the Web!:p

Trickling down? It's a pretty common thing to have corporate sponsorships for college stadiums.
