Football Stadium naming rights now trickling down to colleges....

First I've heard of it........ Kentucky goes with Kroger( the grocery chain ) Field. Obviously, it's all grab for the almighty dollar. PSU base would go ballistic if this would affect our brand. But you never know what can transpire with our BOT. Reportedly, Yellow Bird buses looking at Pitt . http://www.ukathletics.com/news/comprehensive-partnership-with-kroger-announced-05-01-2017

Yeah i know about this. My Gophers play in TCF Bank Stadium.:( Unfortunately, the Money was needed to fund the stadium.

UCF on campus stadium that was built in 2007 was called Brighthouse Networks Stadium, believe Brighthouse is now Spectrum.

In today's dollars,I think you have the most expensive college stadium . That's where it's headed for all eventually.

S.U. Should have given some of that back to Carrier to install a few A/C units in that shit-hole

(though I did hear it's finally going to get done)
Funny thing is I was 19 at the time that crap house went up. I never thought of it as Carrier A/C. You aren't in the central air market at that age. I just thought of it as a dank dark dump.

No higher than #2. The Kyle Field "renovation" project came in at $485mm and change. TCF cost $303mm to build.

Yeah but that includes the lazy river with the frog gigging rapids.

Huh. I thought eckel was a potato head.
From the video: Just another farmer's kid that's never left home, never been married, never had kids, that happened grab a seat as chairman of the board for Nationwide Insurance because of...tomatoes. :rolleyes:o_O:rolleyes:o_O:rolleyes:

Thanks.

You know, the tomato never took off as a hand fruit.

What if Penn State sold naming rights to Beaver Stadium in the 1990's? Could it have been: Holsom "Mmm.... Milano" Stadium"?

Technically I think this was right at one point for "new" builds. Not many new stadiums though. Papa Johns and a couple of smaller schools are the only ones that come to mind.

Unlike Kyle Field's renovation,(IIRC) some of the costs related to building TCF Bank Stadium were things like soil studies and remediation. Also bedrock caused some construction problems. That is one of the reasons why TCF stands so tall and actually looks much larger than it is. They couldn't go deep into the ground like they did at " the Bighouse" for example.

Prior to the last reno, the bighouse didn't look as large as it was from the outside. Once you went in though. it was a massive bowl.

Can't wait till I make it out to State College someday. Looks like another massive stadium. Glad you didn't have to sellout and go the naming rights route.

If you went to the BW game you likely noticed the new advertising over the "headers" of the entry/exit portals inside the stadium (was it for "GEICO"? Something like that)

Never underestimate the impact of a poorly conceived bake sale.
If that dumb-ass was responsible for generating her own income, she wouldn't be able to buy a pack of chewing gum .......... let alone her gold-plated bidets and SUVs

She is truly one flat-out dumbshit - - - - with an "ego and entitlement" gland that could choke a rhino.

Do you go to games often? They been there for a couple of years. Here an article from 2015 that has pictures of them. If they are so bad why did it take you years to notice?

Trickling down? It's a pretty common thing to have corporate sponsorships for college stadiums.

And it makes total sense in todays world of Collegiate and Professional Sports.

Learfield Sports which I believe owns the rights for Penn State Athletics sponsorship sales I'm sure is all over our Athletic Department about the possibility of getting the official Stadium naming rights contract.

Stadium making rights has become a very very large and lucrative business for all...

Frankly I would not mind seeing a Verizon , AT&T or another telecommunications giant sponsor...sure would increase overall wireless experience in the stadium along with creating other fun and audience participation interactive games during games...

It's a whole new World...

It's lucrative it you're UDub ($4.1mm p.a.); not so much if you're Rutgers ($650K p.a.). Given the amounts schools spend on facilities it's the proverbial drop in a bucket.

Not to mention - if PSU EVER puts the name "Paterno" on the venue ......the value of any "naming rights" deal probably drops by 50%......

Who would lay out big $$$$ to have their name associated with a stadium?
"Comcast Field at Paterno Stadium".... or something like that.
When everyone is going to think "Paterno" every time they think of the venue.

If it was:
"Comcast Field at Beaver Stadium", people think "Comcast"
"Comcast Field at Paterno Stadium", people think "Paterno"

I don't expect that it is a significant factor in any debate over "memorializing" the Paterno name vav the football stadium......but who knows?
