Here are a few points for discussion. I believe we would all agree with the before scenarios. So lets have a discussion on the aftermath of the past 2 games. Has anything changed in your mind.

1) Before: Saquon Barkley will forego his final year of eligibility and declare for the NFL. After: I believe there is a greater, as small as it may be, chance that he may want to return to try and win a NC.

2) Before: Trace McSorley will be the starting QB next year. After: Trace McSorley will be the starting QB next year.

3) Before: Joe Moorhead will continue to run the same ROP offense that has propelled the team to 7-0. After: Joe Moorhead will continue to run the same ROP offense.

Barkley isn't coming back. If anyone tells Barkley to return they are giving him horrible advice. It's like - here's a winning Powerball ticket. But throw it away and buy another one because next week's jackpot will be bigger. Who would do that?

Before: I love Franklin, Moorhead, Pry, etc. Be ready for other schools to go after them, but I hope they stay in Happy Valley a long time. We are lucky to have them.

After: FIRE. THEM. ALL.

Barkley will declare and won’t play in the bowl game. His agent will talk him out of playing.

I’m worried Tommy Stevens will transfer.

It starts with the online ,we need more Slobber Knockers
Trace needs to become more accurate with his short passes. This will also help the running game.

Interesting questions. I'll play along.

1. After: No chance, nor would he, nor should he. He is a top 5 NFL draft pick ready to make tons of money and simply can't risk getting hurt. Plus, I'm not sure this offense is built around him the way it should be.

2. Trace will be the starter largely because he is the leader of this team once Barkley moves on. Trace played a very poor game yesterday and I do agree with other posters, he is not a big run threat and that hurts the design of this offense. That being said, he has been a very good QB for us and we have won big games because of him. He'll start every game next year.

3. Joe Moorhead has had success running his RPO offense and there is no indication he would change anything. Penn State has had record setting performances since he has been here and really, we have scored enough to win every game the last 2 years. That being said, I am confounded by his hubris related to short yardage plays and lack of creativity getting Barkley the ball in space or moving forward(Pistol, screens, pitches, flares or god forbid, McSorley under center with a straight handoff to Barkley.) The bad news.....or good news depending, is that I don't think Moorhead will be here next year. We will probably have another play caller and my hope would be that they keep 70% of Moorheads system, but then find a section in the playbook for a more traditional running game set.

Where do you think Moorhead will go, though? After the Michigan game I thought he'd be in line for a big HC job. Now I see him, possibly, making a lateral move.

This team will not be anywhere near good enough to win a National Championship next year. Even if they had a 50% chance, I would bet all the money I have on this earth that Saquon would not be back.

Unless I’m mistaken; Stevens has already used his redshirt, so if he transfers, he still loses a year unless he goes to a 1AA school. Regardless, they have Clifford in the pipeline...they’ll be fine.

Our opponent had the better QB the last 2 games. I'm starting to view Trace as Matt McGloin II. A fine young man. Tough. Smart. But limited athletic ability. I think JF should declare that the QB job is again open for next year. Stevens has more athletic ability than Trace. He could well be the better QB and should be given a chance.

If Trace graduates this year there is no guarantee he even wants to come back.

Another thing I learned the past two weeks is that our DBs are slow. They can't cover one on one very well. Another thing I learned is that Wade is not world class. MSU had true freshman DBs that played well. CastroFields is better than Wade. In my mind Wade has been a disappointment.

I don't know, I really don't know where he would go. I just get the sense that he came in, by most measures did well with this offense, and now will move on. I get the feeling that they thought THIS was the year with Saqoun and Marcus Allen back and now that the playoff hopes have slipped away, Joe will move on. I think he would still be an attractive hire for a low level D1 FCS school as a HC. Sure, Florida would have a tough time justifying his hire, but it Frost were to leave UCF after this year, I think that would be the type of school that may let him get a HC gig. I think he could be a good hire for an American conference school or something. I find it hard to believe he is going to achieve more here. Some D-Coordinators have figured out this offense a bit. now.
