Franco's perspective.........

My wife, a Nittany Lion by forced indoctrination (mine) has stated many times that she will not discuss politics at work because this subject is divisive and creates hard feelings. She also reports that others freely discuss politics and 90% plus are very pointed to one direction of the political spectrum. She has observed this at three work places over the years. I agree that workplace political discussions are often divisive and if they are not so it is because all the opinions are focused and all are in agreement, the vocal ones, not the silent fraction. The less the vocal minority are acknowledged the louder they shout their opinions as it might or volume make right. Neither do.

On their lunch break staff are free to discuss any topic they desire but to do so when others are trapped within earshot of the diatribes is a tactic to intimidate the less vocal or those who are just trying to fulfill their obligations to their employer and go home with a few dollars more in their pocket to either enjoy their time off or go to another job to make ends meet. Political intimidation during work hours is not a fine first amendment rights prerogative but a juvenile, cliquish tactic to obtain a short lived, self proclaimed victory in a war they alone are fighting.

Not as much as Emmitt Smith did, though...
Running out of bounds is part of Franco's legacy. Emmitt followed Franco's practice. They almost all do.

I've met Franco, just like a lot of posters have. He's completely likeable and a passionate, generous man.

PSU's Lamont Wade posted a video on youtube about the topic. Barkley re-tweeted it, "I'm with Kaep." It will be an interesting day when college football players take a knee. They should spend some time with Franco.

The NFL is a product and the same people who are getting paid millions to create the product are purposely degrading its apeal for many people. Every business wants a broad appeal so they can maximize profits. Is it their right to protest? I guess, but it's also very very stupid and the owners of those teams have the right to act accordingly. I mean they're slowly killing the goose that lays the golden egg. Imagine if production workers at a Wheaties plant protested the use of an American flag on a serial box for the same reasons. What would happen? They would all get fired that's what would happen. Whenever I see this stuff I'm reminded what an immature, entitled bunch some of the current sports superstars are and by extension some of the current generation. Whatever, I couldn't give two sh!ts about the NFL. And the funny thing is they always come back to intolerance, but their own intolerance to the insulting nature of the act to many Americans (especially veterans) including African Americans is no different. The whole world seems upside down right now.
