While giving the introduction for Archie Griffin you saw Franklin waving his hand up, wanting to get the crowd to cheer - was he afraid of more booing since this followed Delany presenting the trophy? He's doing it behind the announcer. Very obvious if you watch for it.

While the announcer was talking to Archie, you see Franklin, twice, go over and tell McSorely something. McSorely makes a big deal about Archie when first introduced, thanking him. I get it that McSorely is a nice kid, speaks well of others, but put his arm around him and made a strong point to praise.

I think it shows the booing of Delany had an effect.

CJF may have seen this display by Connor Cook last year, and reminded McSorely to treat Archie with class. I doubt McSorely needed the reminder but it certainly couldn't hurt. Or maybe it had nothing to do with Archie whatsoever, who knows.

So why, as a Penn state fan, is Archie Griffin up there? The hammer was between Psu and WI. Why should I care?

yeah, Connor looked horrible and I take him at his word he really got caught up in things. Looks like something from WWE. Those events are impromptu and players don't always know what they are to do. It was cool seeing Trace put his arm around Griffin while talking to the crowd and seeing Griffin with a big smile.

It's good to stay above the level of competition and respect the greats of the games past. JVP always did that with Doug Flutie among others despite some losses. A rare quality among these egocentric coaches in this day and age.

Connor was told what a lack of class move that was and that prompted the apology. He didn't know or care to find out who Archie Griffin was.
