I have been away from the internet for about a week, so I wasn't able to pay my respects to the recently departed, long-time board poster Sgt. Carter. I think this board is in need of a fun fact.
Sgt. Carter's obituary mentioned that he went to Maine-Endwell high school, which is located in southern New York, near Binghamton. M-E was one of the teams that my high school played in varsity sports, although I wouldn't necessarily call them a rival of my high school. Sgt. Carter was several years older than me, so I didn't know him personally, and I wasn't old enough to compete against him in high school sports.
Anyway, the fun fact is that M-E had a state record 62-game winning streak in football that began in the 2010 state quarterfinals and was snapped in the state semifinals this year, in November 2015. I hope that Sgt. Carter got some enjoyment out of his high school's historic success, and my sincere condolences to his family.
