What do you say we park it in Raleigh, NY, and PHL for 7 out of the next 8 years. That makes more f'ing sense than what has been going on forever.

THERE ARE 37 D1 WRESTLING PROGRAMS ON THE EAST COAST.

The entire rest of the country - 37. The states with the most D1 programs - Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and New York. I don't see 1 friggin' Midwest state in that group.

Because the location of the schools does not mean ANYTHING to the NCAA, neither does what is best for the fans. The NCAA cares about one thing and one thing only, MONEY. Whichever city guarantees the most money to the NCAA gets the bid. Why do you and everyone else for that matter, NOT GET THAT?

I can't believe that this is entirely true. Sure the NCAA is money-grubbing. But if it went to whatever city guarantees the most money, it would be held in the same city every year. It isn't. It rotates.

All well-earned cynicism aside, this isn't true. I've run large-dollar competitions (one over $500M). Money is obviously a factor. It's not the only factor. Well, unless you don't mind getting investigated by an ambitious DA or AG, or getting sued by a losing applicant.

The most likely reason is woefully obsolete RFP selection criteria, based upon (among other things) fan attendance 30 years ago and not updated since because bureacracy.

Either that, or planes do not depart the midwest on Wednesdays and do not return on Sundays.

even with all 8 mats raised on a platform - I just don't feel the viewing experience will be ideal for anyone beyond 10-15 rows of the field ... I sat 10 rows off the field at Beaver Stadium for 20 years and those guys are all the size of heavyweight wrestlers and they were hard to see across the field 30 yards away?!

I'll be watching from a cigar bar sippin on a Blanton with a couple of Jaime's or My Father's for 3 days straight

Basch re-shared this yesterday I tend to agree. Even first row (stadium) seats are gonna be very far away from most of the action.

 
Honestly B1Gs is every bit as good as nationals for a fraction of the cost.. As good as the conference is you see nearly as many awesome match ups as you do at nationals and the % of matches that have a PSU guy going is greater.. smaller more intimate venue.. I really like that tourney..

Pretty sure uncased binoculars are allowed at all NCAA sports venues. I've used them many times (e.g. Rec Hall, BJC, Beaver Stadium, Enterprise Center, MSG, and PPG Paints Arena).

Just don't bring a case!

Still, with binoculars you want a seat where your line of sight to any mat doesn't pass through an aisle. Else, you will end up seeing out of focus people constantly walking by, and could end up with quite a headache. Unfortunately, it may be difficult to figure out ahead of time whether one's seat will be problematic in this regard.

Let’s face it, Carver might be replaced by Mullett Arena once Bob offers a big enough bag. Even though the arena didn’t yet enter the portal, Bob wants to finish off the rest of the ASU program!

My Rose Bowl trip for PSU vs Utah a few years ago was fantastic. Flew into San Diego, drove north and did pregame & postgame in Old Pasadena. Went to this latest Fiesta Bowl vs Boise State, had a great trip and feel the Phoenix area would be sweet in mid-March for NCAAs.

NCAA wrestling championships in Vegas would be phenomenal. So many options for places to stay & things to do in between sessions. Zillions of cabs & UBER. The entire Strip is walkable. Reasonable flights back & forth from anywhere in the Lower 48. Who the **** wants to keep going to St Louis, Oklahoma, Iowa or Kansas City?

They should really send NCAAs back to Madison Square Garden - w/ Penn Station beneath MSG, travel logistics were fantastic.

As for Canada, British Columbia is incredible. I travel to BC every summer / fall and wish I could just disappear there.

With the time difference I don't want to watch finals at 11pm. When most of the viewership is Eastern and Central, it makes sense that the location(s) should be there. I get what everyone is saying but I just think a west coast venue has more downside than upside.

It is considered. For midwesterners.

Seriously, that's why it's held where it is most years. NCAA thinks most fans drive there from the upper midwest. And they kinda have a point -- as long as they keep holding it in the midwest, then yeah, most fans drive there. Confirmation bias at its best.
