Gable to WWE article

The money may be great but the lifestyle can destroy a man and his body.
Gable doesn’t plan to stay in WWE for long. WWE is his hopeful steppingstone to Hollywood. He hopes to be The Rock 2.0. Per recent Baschamania interview.

WWE seems like a raging dumpster fire.

Never want to talk a kid out of this dreams, but I wish the kid would choose a path more fitting of his once-a-decade talent level.

But, it is a raging dumpster fire where he can make $$$ and audition for Hollywood.

Well he’s already on the Olympic team... you want him to go into coaching once his college/Olympic career is done?
He has the charisma why not try to make millions in the wwe

As someone who grew up enjoying pro wrestling, their product is a dumpster fire. Actually it isn't a dumpster fire because I could stomach watching a dumpster fire for a short time. Somehow that awful TV product with floundering ratings translates to billion dollar deals with FOX and NBC.

Is he going to be Rock's VP on the 2024 ticket or does Gable plan to be at the top of the ticket in 2032? Or both?

Just my thought, but WWE would be just an outlet for Gable to migrate into Hollywood. Numerous wrestlers have gone that route. Obviously ,Wayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, and Steve "Stonecold"Williams to name a few. Would the ill feeling towards his next career be the same if he said he was going to proceed to the NFL. The NFL has ravaged many more athletes over the years. Between crippling leg and back injuries, to brain trauma the NFL is littered with victims. Read the stories of Mike Webster and the Carlton Haselerig. Maybe Gable choice is taking in factors that we don't understand all the dynamics.

I remember the attitude era... best time for wrestling fans.. idk what’s even going on anymore but seems like mainstream has accepted “scripted” wrestling somewhat now.. TV ratings has dropped across the board not just for wrestling.. ppl don’t watch TV as they used to.

Impressive, u knew Stone cold”’s real name lol. Good point, there used to be TONS of ill will for wrestlers that joined WWE... a lot of that hate has died down now since guys like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar paved the way..

I have no idea what the numbers are, but my guess is people are watching a ton of entertainment on their television. It's just there are 100 times more options to pick from compared to just a few years ago let alone a decade or more.

I tried watching some recent stuff(via youtube) and it was bad compared to their old stuff... their YouTube channel has 75M subscribers so they still got the fan base for it🤷‍♂️

Pro wrestling was part my adolescence. I'm 59 and never thought it was real. It was just fun entertainment with scripted results. Some of the lore was ,good vs evil and some was the athletic ability including strength and agility.
The Allentown area was a hot bed for pro wrestling. Ag Hall at Allentown fairgrounds was where they filmed the weekly show that was on Friday night or Saturday morning. Numerous wrestlers lived in the area because at the time the WWF was regionalized. Allentown was the hub for New York , Philadelphia and Baltimore D/C area. I ate breakfast in Bangor where the waitress ran around with the Rocky Johnson. I saw ring announcer Joe McHugh in public settings. Andre the Giant went to a bar in Stroudsburg called Floods that had 30 beers on draft. Only a few people ever went down the line and drank one of each. Andre went down and back. Memories

At the Super Bowl a few years back I got to meet Artie Donovan. He brought with him Don Joyce - a former teammate. Tales flew around about the old days which were entertaining. Aside from the sad part of Don's current health and lack of NFL looking out for him, he spoke of his part time Studio Wrestler job in the offseason! I think Johnny U actually sold cars in his early years!

Read the bio on George "The Animal" Steele. It's a classic. He was High School teacher ,football and wrestling coach in Michigan. I believe he was inducted in Michigan High School Hall of Fame . He would wrestle in the summer in the Northeast to make some extra money. Cable TV in Midwest started to show New York WOR 9. Now all his students and players knew what he was doing. At first summer practice after cable the whole team had green tongue to start practice. His cover was blown.
A good read below, Speaks how he started high school wrestling team that won state title in a few years
