well… Now it’s five!our last chance to make it a game is coming up after this timeout. if we can cut it to 6 or something maybe it can happen. if it swings back to 15 or 16 that's the end
If Funk and Dread can keep draining threes, we’ve got a shot.we have managed to make it a game
if Lundy can do something too, we may winIf Funk and Dread can keep draining threes, we’ve got a shot.
I’ve got a pretty good idea Maryland is going to feed it into the paint.Need one defensive stop then make FTs. Just one!
boom!Offensive rebounds for Terps are a key...which also lead to Micah's Technical. UMd w 7 3s.
Maybe we ger to "Reverse Rutgers" where we are great in 2nd half for the W?
We're locked into the 10th seed, so we can't play someone like Minnesota.i believe we are in now unless we lose to Minnesota or something else really bad in the BTT
You don't often see a career derail the way it did for Dread. His confidence was so far shot that he was a total liability out there.Great for Dread to play so well after being so dreadful as of late. Perhaps this adrenaline shot into his confidence will spark a run.
Seeing Dread in tears was incredible. We love our school. But seeing that raw emotion reminds us that the kids playing the sport are all in. Just a great, great finish.Really happy for those guys, especially Dread. Nothing usually goes right for PSU hoops. Every time there is good fortune they are met with bad.
those are great scenarios because i don't think losing to MD, NW or Illinois will knock us out since we've already beaten all of them at least once. beating any of them again would just give us a better seed. i think we are in. in theory we could play Minnesota again but it would have to be a couple of rounds inWe're locked into the 10th seed, so we can't play someone like Minnesota.
If all favorites win today, we'll play Maryland again. If Michigan knocks off Indiana (with the rest of the favorites winning), we get an even better matchup against Northwestern (but we don't want Michigan helping their bubble chances). All favorites win except Rutgers knocks off Northwestern, and we get the Illinois team that we swept.
But regardless, we're not locked in. I've been saying for a while that I think it's a coin flip (if we lose on Thursday), and much of it really comes down to the rest of these bubble games. Gonna be a fun week.
Don't be so quick... @LandoComando has already declared that I don't know much about this stuff, and that we have "absolutely no chance" and our odds are "zero" if we don't win on Thursday.those are great scenarios because i don't think losing to MD, NW or Illinois will knock us out since we've already beaten all of them at least once. beating any of them again would just give us a better seed. i think we are in
I think you nailed it.We're locked into the 10th seed, so we can't play someone like Minnesota.

odds are zero? that's wacky. our chances of making the tournament are much better than 2 in 3 right nowDon't be so quick... @LandoComando has already declared that I don't know much about this stuff, and that we have "absolutely no chance" and that are odds are "zero" if we don't win on Thursday.
The reality is that this scenario will make things REALLY close on Selection Sunday. A win on Thursday, and we can start thinking about possibly avoiding the trip to Dayton.
Same thing for Coach Shrews….he was emotionally drained. It’s easy for us to sit and judge these guys and accuse them of not playing hard or giving it their all, but they really do….just sometimes the shots don’t fall or the other team plays better.Seeing Dread in tears was incredible. We love our school. But seeing that raw emotion reminds us that the kids playing the sport are all in. Just a great, great finish.
That whole last offensive set was a microcosim of who we are. Jalen taking over control and showing the poise not to force something into the double (but getting fouled would have been maybe our best option 1 and 1 on the floor or 2 shots if he got it up.)Really happy for those guys, especially Dread. Nothing usually goes right for PSU hoops. Every time there is good fortune they are met with bad.
Because that the number of wins itself isn't important, it's "who" you beat. Beating Minnesota would have carried no value (it's a low level Q3 games on a neutral), so it's basically going 1-2 in the series of meaningful games. Under our current scenario, it's 1-1.I think you nailed it.
The only thing we've disagreed on is the value of beating MD today vs in the tournament.
If we lost this one but beat Minn & MD in the tournament before losing we finish 20-14, 11-12 vs BiG opponents.
Win this one but lose to MD in the tournament we finish 19-13, 10-11 vs BiG opponents. I don't see how that would be a lot better than the first scenario.
they don't care about 19-13, it is about the net metric and records vs quadsWin this one but lose to MD in the tournament we finish 19-13, 10-11 vs BiG opponents. I don't see how that would be a lot better than the first scenario.
Absolutely. At least for me, it was a very happy reality check.Same thing for Coach Shrews….he was emotionally drained. the previous morons who had his job would have taken a decade to piece together a 10-10 conference recordAbsolutely. At least for me, it was a very happy reality check.
They were 11-9 three years ago.the previous morons who had his job would have taken a decade to piece together a 10-10 conference record
I gave us about a 1% chance at that point. It just wasn’t looking good, but three point shooters can make a whole lot of difference if they get hot.If you thought PSU would win when they were down by 12 pts with 5:58 to play.... You had more confidence than me. ESPN gave us a 3% chance at that point.
In both scenarios we are 1-1 vs MD and have the same number of quad 1 wins.they don't care about 19-13, it is about the net metric and records vs quads
which was his 8th or 9th season right? They were 11-9 three years ago.
