GameDay to be on OM Lawn

If that clown show were being broadcast in my front yard, I'd pull the shades. That show is everything that's wrong with present-day sports broadcasting.

I don’t care for the show, but why are they not setting up beside the stadium? Sure, Old Main Lawn is beautiful, but since it’s a football game, one would think that they’d broadcast near where the game is being played.

Parking? taking away parking spots?

I thought the same thing, but surely there is room in front of the stadium somewhere along Curtin or Porter? The show is over at noon and the game starts 7.5 hours later - plenty of time to break down the set and get out of the tailgaters’ way. He’ll, even doing it in front of (or in) the baseball stadium makes more sense.

Better crowd control at Old Main, I was told
It worked out well in front of Old Main last time, and having Old Main as the back drop in the photo shots was stunning. Most of the students are still asleep when the show airs, but there was a nice crowd of visitors and fans who attended in front of Old Main, and it’s probably a better location to avoid the 11am drunk crowd.

So, I guess we can't send a formal request to ESPN to NOT bring this particular person on Saturday?

What should they do instead?

Curious about this too. What exactly would you prefer they be doing as a pre-game college football show that would make it better present-day sports broadcasting?

I believe espn originally picked OM to avoid the drunk anti-espn crowds. They knew Penn Staters were not happy with the way they treated PSU and Paterno during the Sandusky Scandal and figured OM was a safer spot as fans and tailgate drunks would have to do some actual leg work to get to them.
I’m sure they are still a little gun shy, coupled with the fact that OM actually worked out for them, and they see no reason to change it up this year.

Over/under the number of times a mention is made about
- rebuilding after the Sandusky scandal that tarnished the university and former HC Joe Paterno
- the "cover up"
- didn't report it when it happened
- they took the statue down

And, then praise to ohowIhate for the way they handled their situtation. Oscar meyer weathered the storm and has returned strong to the program. Heck, if there was any body water near campus, they'd have a game promo of suburban walking across. Or maybe a McArthur like return.

Sorry, gang, but I don't like any of the personalities on there.

JMO.

Agreed - Total clown show starting with that moron Desmond who could quite possible be the dumbest person in the solar system and ending with that tired Corso shtick with the stupid mascot heads that we all know will be that nut head which by the way may be the worst mascot outside the Stanford Tree which I find actually kind of cool in a weird way.

Yep, I'm fairly certain ESPN will take this opportunity to take their shots at PSU even if through backhanded compliments. They cannot help themselves, it is a lack of professionalism in not having to grow past their collegiate selves and biases.

Not trying to be an A$$ but this is not a beauty pageant its a football game and a Whiteout to boot it should be about the team the fans the atmosphere at the stadium. Not Old Main

The crowd at Old Main did fine last year, it will again. Not trying to be an ass but it really doesn’t matter where it is. The folks that really want to be there will be there, plus it won’t spill out into the road on Old Main lawn. At BJC it probably would, which creates other challenges.

People will see what the stadium has to offer when they tune in at 7:30PM Saturday night. Let's set the tone with something Iconic like Old Main, and then blow people away with 111,000+ clad in white when it gets dark.

The Beav is only intimidating when you walk up to it. Photographs of it just make it look like a highway shed sitting in the middle of a field. When you see it in person, and from 10+ miles away on 99... that's when you really get a sense for how big the place is with comparison to the entire Nittany Valley around you.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Beav... but Old Main shined last year and by the looks of the weather, it will again this year too.

I agree. The Old Main location looked great last time and will be again. The back side of the of the press box isn't exactly the best photo op on campus. There will be plenty of stadium shots at game time.

I'm really looking forward to learning who's passing Herby's "eye test"...

I think it's just a better visual, which ESPN, the school, and practically everyone would agree on.
