Gene Hackman and wife found dead

Gene, his wife, and dog found dead in house. Carbon Monoxide?

Seems possible, and, sad as that would be, when all the living creatures inside a home die on the same night (if that is true) carbon monoxide is the happiest of the potential conclusions that might be reached as to the cause.

Does the home have gas heat or gas appliances? Seems like one of the first questions.

Most locations now have regs for carbon monoxide monitors/alarms. If you don’t, go get them. $20.

Agree and he's got a very interesting history. After his father left the family, he joined the marines at age 16. After four years in service, he then knocked around various cities trying to catch on as an actor. With a lot of bit parts, he really didn't catch on until he was in his mid-thirties.

This is why I have multiple carbon monoxide detectors in my house. I love natural gas, but there is risk.
One probably saved my family and me. After a long day of meetings and several long delays on my flight home, I drove into my garage at 2:30am. I put the car in park but had a coffee mug blocking the shifter. So I pushed the gear shift back to "N" and grabbed the mug. This is my travel mug so I put it into the back seat cup holder. Now out of my routine and not thinking well, I walked into the house and went to bed. I had forgotten to put the car in P and turn it off. Several hours later the CO2 sensors were going off. I walked into the garage where my car was running and fumigating the attached garage. There was so little oxygen that the car was kind of chocking. My daughter's bedroom is right above the garage. Perhaps the car would have stalled. Perhaps the bedroom would have had enough airflow that it would never have gotten to a lethal level. But I'll never skimp on CO2 detectors since then.

TMZ reporting that he had three dogs. One died and two survived. This supports the CO2 theory.

I read about Hackman in Young Frankenstein. Apparently, when the movie was released, he wasn't even advertised as a participant. The story Hackman told is that he felt he was getting typecast and wanted to do a comedy. So he volunteered to play the part to Mel Brooks. Hackman ad-libbed much of the scene. It was supposed to be much shorter but Brooks loved it so much that he kept almost the entire thing in the movie.

Story gets more odd. Wife apparently found in bathroom with pills scattered on counter and space heater knocked on the ground next to her body. He was found in a mud room off the kitchen with the front door open. Their bodies were reportedly partially ‘mummified’ and decomposed. They appear to have died a while ago (within the past 2 weeks). No signs of gas leak or carbon monoxide.

I was thinking car exhaust. They are in Sante Fe where it is pretty warm. But no word on how long they were dead so could have been days or more then a week.

Wondering about suicide. If one was in terrible health the other might react tragically. But just speculation.

Two points: he is proof you don’t hsve be Brad Pitt/ Robert Redford handsome to be a huge star.

The other is very few step away from the addiction of stardom. He retired at age 75 and never looked back.

i thought of suicide as well. He was up there and not healthy. But his wife was fairly young and still vibrant. She was 63. But initial reports are saying no foul play so far.

Not anymore.

My initial instinct was suicide pact.

Looking closer to that now.
Here's some of the suspicious findings:

The front door of the residence was found open and unsecured.

A deceased dog was laying 10-15 feet from Betsy Arakwa in a closet of the bathroom while a healthy dog was found roaming freely on the property.

There was a heater that was moved.

There was also a prescription pill bottle that was opened with pills scattered next to the female.

Gene Hackman's body was located in a separate room of the residence.

And there were no obvious signs of a gas leak.

Heard today he entered an acting school for new actors, all unknown. In his classes were Robert Duvall and Dustin Hoffman who he became close friends with.

And on CNBC, turns out he was partners with Jim Cramer on a hedge fund. Cramer had a painting of himself that Hackman painted, had it on set but it was in poor condition.

He may have passed away and the wife went with him peacefully.

My wife and I had that convo the other day. She was fairly young and vibrant. Hard to imagine she loved him so much she took her own life. Last photos of them...from Page Six

I guess it depends on one's opinion of an afterlife... and life after your husband dies.
With $80m, his estimated net worth, it is hard to believe she didn't have enough friends and family to tack on another decade or two of highlife. But who knows, she could have killed him due to a pre-nup. He had three kids from a previous marriage. You never know what goes on behind closed doors.

Prenup wouldn't help him here. They were married for 30 years.

The amount of income he earned in this time and any properties etc would be, for certain, 10s of millions.

Wasn’t money, in my theory. She killed him out of love because he was in terrible pain or severe dementia. Then killed herself because she knew she would be charged in his death. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If I make it to 95 given the current state of my health, I will hire a subcontractor to de-install any carbon monoxide detectors and also to install faulty gas burning heaters. Of course after a delivery of gentleman Jack.
