Getting bumped from a plane can be not so bad

There are people that do this all the time. They show up at the airport without luggage and have no intention on going anywhere and as soon as the airline asks for volunteers, they approach, take their vouchers and go home for dinner.

I did a short stint at the airport many years ago and it became obvious after the same guy came about 2-3 times per week for the 6 months I worked there.

He was retired and he had made enough from previous overbookings that sometimes he had to go with the plane as there wasn't always a need for someone to give up their seat. Sometimes he would have to stay overnight or would come back on the return.

IT ISN'T. WHAT IT IS, IS A GREAT SYSTEM. I LOVE IT. I ALWAYS TAKE BUMPS. SMART FLYERS AND PEOPLE TAKE BUMPS.

THIS GUY/INCIDENT IS GOING TO RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE

This is bullshit. 90% of the time they offer less than you spend on drinking waiting for the next flight!!!!

don't be a drunk, you'll have more money :)... most times it starts at 400... this guy was due over 1000 for a flight that cost $205... sign me up!

LOL maybe this is too obvious, but couldn't he just not get on the flight?

The airlines track that stuff and if you skip too many flights, and are pocketing a bunch of cash/vouchers, they'll block you from buying.

Can you scalp airline tickets at an airport?
I doubt it, but...they use that as a theme for a TicketBa$tard ad that plays at Nationwide Arena--so you will buy scalped tickets from them at inflated prices. The ad shows a guy acting like a ticket scalper trying to sell airline tickets in an airport.

Here's a similar example (subway instead of air).

He was a physician who didn't want to leave his patients in the lurch

was this the last flight of the day, no one has said if it was. it could have been the last flight for United. but delta probably had one through Atlanta and maybe American through DFW. United would have placed him on that.

Also who is this guys patients, George Costanza? they require 24 hours notice. And if he cared so much about his patients and ya know human decency, just work late, to accomodate them. have them come in, or would that have been to hard. is it an inconvenience yes it is, boo whooo

dude is scum bag, since this is america and it is always someone else's fault, how many people did he get hooked on pain killers since he over prescribed? a real geogia peach

I once made $800 in one day during the Christmas travel peak. I volunteered to take a later flight for $400, then the later flight was also overbooked so I volunteered to go the next morning for $400 more. It was great!

This guy is going to get $10 million for getting bumped (and bruised).
I haven't followed this and may be the only one that didn't watch the video but I heard yesterday on CNBC that he broke some teeth and had a concussion.
