From the Freep - Michigan State Legislature passes resolution calling for LAS to resign or get canned. D's and R's agree - resolution passes 96-11.

Speaker of the House Tom Leonard, R-DeWitt Township, said while the resolution dealt solely with Simon, he'd like to see the entire board resign or be impeached by the Legislature.

State Rep. Adam Zemke, D-Ann Arbor, said he decided to sponsor the resolution after the majority of the board decided last week to continue its support of Simon, as well as "to provide closure and acknowledgement to victims and send a signal to the university that this has got to be fixed."

I take no joy in what is going down at MSU or USG etc. The only thing I wish for as a PSU fan is for Emmert, Simon and co, to acknowledge that they were wrong on PSU and indeed this sort of thing happens and can happen anywhere. I truly don't believe anyone at PSU or MSU believed they were dealing with a sexual predator.
Having said this.....Simon is gone by Friday.

Honestly, there is no strategy that is going to work in a situation like this. Once the damage is done you're f*d no matter what you do. Impossible to unscramble an egg.

Maybe if people focused on how situations like this actually arise, there could be meaningful discussion on how to prevent it in the future. Instead nonsense like football culture (gymnastics culture is clearly ridiculous) gets thrown around and debated and the spotlight is taken off of the real issue which is these people hide/are present in all types of communities holding all sorts of positions and they're very good at avoiding detection

The biggest thing of all. We were raked over the coals for no good gd reason, and there is some level of catharsis here, but this is PROOF that nobody with their pitchforks and tweets and righteous indignation gave a good goddamn about the kids, the victims here. No one cared at all to get to the real facts to prevent this from happening to other innocent people. F them all.
