this weekend, what do you guys think Cael does at 141? Will Cutch rest his back a few weeks? Split starts up at 165?

Cutch will rest I think and could see a couple of different guys in there, but would like to see Phipps get some action.

141 would be Jimmy I think. He has a wall and needs to break through if healthy. If the wall breaks Jimmy, then Moss still has the end of January and Feb duals to get ready.

Could see 165 getting split starts. I dont think anyone made or lost their case at the SS.

Guilibon isn't healthy. Cael said as much in his post Scuffle remarks. Said he was favoring his good ankle during the tournament but wasn't one to complain or not say he couldn't go. Too many people on here too critical of a kid who works his tail off ...

The injured guys need to rest for several weeks. We won't need them. I've had back spasms, and they are debilitating, but rest alone often does the trick. People are sweating Matt's situation, but if truly back spasms rather than disc or other issues, I'm not too worried.

Dunk knows what's going on better than most. And Cael said that Gulibon was in deep on a lot of shots and would've "scored 30 points" if he could've finished, which Cael said was an "easy fix." How does a guy with an injured ankle get deep on that many shots? And how is it an "easy fix" if it's an injury?

He might be a little hobbled, but that's not the primary issue.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with this. Gulibon didn't look that good before the ankle injury in the NLO. There is more to it than the ankle IMO, and some of the difficulty may be that he is just not well suited at 141.

Frankly, he looks small for 141. The size difference with Schuyler was striking; Jimmy seems prone to getting caught underneath with his head down after grabbing a single leg, and just can't finish....or at least that was the case in the Scuffle; he may get healthier/better (but not bigger).

Im fairly certain Jimmy is only certified to 141 and couldnt go down anyway.

Cutch will all but assuredly sit and if Jimmy is dinged up he should as well. Maybe even if he's not dinged up, Sabatello beat him last year and it wouldn't do his confidence any good if Sabatello gets him again.

If Jimmy were healthy and firing on all cylinders, I'd still worry about the Sabatello match, just because of last year's result. Jimmy was never in that match. IIRC, his performance set off about a week of message board hand-wringing about whether he was big enough to compete at 133. (Nothing makes a guy look smaller in comparison to his opponents than getting his arse handed to him.)

I'm concerned with Cutch's back and would like to see Phipps step in and wrestle this weekend.

Yeah, Sabatello is a nightmare matchup for Jimmy because he's so damn long. I really think Jimmy's biggest hindrance isn't his weight, but rather his lack of length. He struggles to get to the far ankle time and again because he's got super short arms, also struggles to sweep the back leg when the front is shelved.

....and small hands. Yes, when I commented about him being small for his weight class, it is not just about his normal weight, but also his overall frame.

To be fair, he does have really good quickness. He needs to figure ways to use that quickness without getting caught in positions where he can't finish.

He has issues very similar to those faced by Chris Dardanes, who was supremely talented by hindered a bit my his lack of length. Luckily for Dardanes he was built like a brick sh*thouse and could finish a few more shots.
