Its official now. Lovie is the new HC at Illinois. This is I think a great hire not just for Illinois but for the B1G. During the SEC's reign many of us here argued that quality and high profile coaches in the SEC were a huge factor in the success of the conference. Now the B1G has Meyer, Harbaugh, Lovie, Dantonio and of course Franklin.

Think about the days in the B1G (granted psu was not in the B1G then but let's just say they were for arguments sake) with Paterno, Hayes, Bo. The schools had the highest profile coaches.

The conference as a whole is improving in terms of quality on the field and recruiting ability. Another high profile coach at Illinois means ESPN will be all over the B1G promoting the coaching match ups. More eye balls equals more $$.

Are we headed into the golden age for the B1G? I believe in 2017 the B1G will have 5 of the top 15 teams in the country Through week 6 before they all start playing each other. We will eat our own like the SEC does but come bowl season the conference will shine.

I expect this to only last 3-4 years before Harbaugh and Lovie jump back to the NFL. Enjoy it while you can!
