Names Offensive Rookie of the year by the PFWA but Mayfield got the overall Rookie of the year award. Not sure the logic of having Mayfield the overall rookie of the year and Barkley the Offensive rookie of the year. I think Barkley should have nabbed the overall rookie of the year award but am grateful he at least got the offensive rookie award.

from the article:

Barkley, the second overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State, rushed 261 times for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 91 passes for 721 yards and nine TDs. His 2,028 scrimmage yards is third all-time by an NFL rookie. Barkley led the league in scrimmage yards and was second in the NFL in rushing yards (1,307), both franchise records for first-year players. He also set the Giants rookie record for rushing touchdowns with 11, and his 15 combined rushing and receiving TDs was tied for third in the NFL. His 14 receptions in Week 2 at Dallas was tied for fourth in NFL single-game history by a running back. Barkley had seven 40+ yard runs and six 50+ yard runs and led the NFL in each category. He became the first NFL rookie with at least 1,200 rushing yards and 600 receiving yards since Detroit’s Billy Sims in 1980. Barkley was the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11.

How did he have 11 rushing and 9 receiving TDs and have 15 combined rushing and receiving TDs?

That’s a shame. Barkley seems to have been (and earned) RoY. Oh well. He’ll get his over time.

Because secretly, Mayberry played defense when no one was looking.

It's not logical. Only explanation is a lot of voters wanted a split.

How dumb are these people and/or this voting.
Both players only play offense.
One is the Offensive Rookie of the year.
One is the Rookie of the year.

Why not give every rookie a participation trophy?

Being that Barkley is a Penn Stater, of course voters found him the most offensive rookie.

In 2005, didn’t Michael Robinson win Big10 player of the year while not being named as the 1st team conference quarterback?

I thought the rookie of the year was giving out at the nfl honors show at the end of they year.
