great catch by Geno Lewis

Would Geno be + or - Hamilton in the slot right now? Not that it matters, just for fun.

One has to wonder who "encouraged" Geno to transfer and why? Stoops seems to have found a starting place for him.

His PT was diminishing as the season went on. His route running was lax at times and he dropped a number of routine passes, but occasionally made the spectacular catch. It would have been difficult for him to start this year. And he is like 5th in catches for Oklahoma this year.

He left because he wasn't getting - or going to get (barring injuries) - much PT at Penn State

Is that really a difficult concept to grasp?
Barry,

You clearly didn't "grasp" my original question. Which coach told Geno Lewis that he wasn't better than the other personnel PSU has fielded this year at WR/SR?

I hope my subsequent query isn't too confusing for you to grasp.

All the love,

Based on his playing time trend .....if anyone had to "tell him", he's too stupid to be a "student-athlete"

I don't think he's stupid

Not sure who "Geno Lewis" is.

My wide receivers are named Godwin, Thompkins, Blacknall, Hamilton, and Charles.

I love Geno Lewis and will always root for him. He made some big catches at PSU and won some big games. He earned his degree and with it the right to play anywhere -- so why not get some experience at another program. With Godwin, Thompkins, Blacknall, Hamilton he just wasn't going to get enough plays at PSU. A good senior year at OK and he will have at least free agent interest from the NFL.

Our current opponent, Iowa, would give anything to have a Geno Lewis right now.

Not that it matters, but is he getting more PT at OK than he would have at PSU?

Yes. He would have been the 4th WR here (at best). That's not a knock on Geno... I think he is a fine college WR, but Godwin and Hamilton passed him and Blacknall appears to be a favorite with the coaches. Thompkins emerged as well, so Geno may have slipped to 5th if he stayed.

Nothing nefarious about Gino Lewis transferring to Oklahoma. OU was a contender that happened to be losing players at WR, just like PSU lost players at DL. Penn State, OTOH, was deep at wideout but starting a new QB, with a new offense, and looking at a 7-5 type season. He handled the move with class, and I root for him at OU. His transfer was not a body blow to the Lions that some of the transfers during sanctions were. Everyone did fine, and Gino is a PSU alum playing at Oklahoma.

Some starting place Stoops found for him. He's their 4th leading receiver with only 201 yards and 1 TD through 8 games.

Basically he's the same average receiver at Oklahoma as he was at PSU.

Geno is currently 4th on OU in both receptions and receiving yards. Through the first eight games (not counting last night), he had 17 catches for 201 yards and one TD (in a 56-3 rout of Kansas). That would place him 5th in receptions and 6th in receiving yards at PSU after eight games. Of course that is with OU passing the ball for almost 1,000 more yards than PSU after eight games and Westbrook getting the majority of the yards.

Impossible to say whether he would be getting more PT at PSU, but based on the stats he is slightly more valuable to OU.
