Your post looks almost like 2 questions that got put together some how.....pretty incoherent, but if you want to know who will play DL int 2017.....

Next year's D-Line will be the same a this years's D-Line without Schwan at DE as he is the only one that graduates.

All of the 9 DT's are back, so the rotation could look pretty similar expect with the 2 redshirt freshmen guys looking to get a few plays in.
Cothran
Cothren
Chavis
Givens
White
Windsor
Thrift
Jordan (redshirted in 2016)
Shelton (redshirted in 2016)

Plus any incoming 2017 DT's, including Hansard, that will likely redshirt

At DE, everyone but Schwan is back. But here the redshirt guys (Simmons and Joseph, and Toney if he has gotten bigger) have a great chance to compete for significant playing time if they show they can play. Same would go for Kaindoh if he decides to come to PSU.
Sickels
Brown
Miller
Buchholz
Joseph (redshirted in 2016)
Simmons (redshirted in 2016)
Toney (redshirted in 2016, and pretty light to play DE)

Plus any incoming DE's, including Matos and Barber, that will likely redshirt.

Thank you

No big deal Mr. Potter. This board is filled with bad grammar and spelling. I attribute nearly all of it to haste or big fingers on small keyboards. Substance is what matters to me, not form.
Country club bullshit at its worst.

Agree. Auto correct is another. Anyone who attacks a post based on grammar and spelllinng not does really have an argument to refute what you say;)

Better question is who makes up the LB rotation next year.

Cabinda & Smith at MLB
Bowen & Farmer

Cooper?
Brown?
Thomas?

That's barely enough for a 2 deep.

I can't imagine that Franklin, Walden, or Rivers would be ready to play as true freshmen but one of them might be forced into a reserve role. One of the smaller DEs (Toney?) will probably be forced to play LB.

I'm more concerned about the company I worked 31 years for will be making out my paychecks for a 32nd year.
This is called reality...

Will the true freshmen be really ready for prime time next year? No

But it's very likely that 1 or 2 will play next year, and just like in 2015 (Bowen and Cooper) and 2016 (Brown) they get better as they get some playing time. Faisen-Walden was reportedly told by CJF that he would compete for playing time in 2017 and Rivers looks like he is the most physically ready of any recent incoming LB recruit. If Proctor chooses to come to PSU he too could compete to play as a true freshmen.

If we don't have a rash of injuries I look for CJF to try and redshirt all the incoming LB's. But if 1 or 2 are too good to keep off of the field, or if CJF can project them to be a special teams terror, then we may see 1 or 2 frosh LB's play some in 2017.

Using proper message board grammar and spelling: our defensive line could make next year hugh although we may loose a game or two. o_O

No, but if posters actually have PSU degree's they might know that if you post an incoherent message that a post can be edited. And if the garble is in the title of the thread the title can actually be edited by clicking on the wrench that shows up to the OP and choosing "edit title".....

No use looking like you are illiterate if your not.....

If your are, well that's that.

BFW is an EE and will benefit with S&Cing and Spring practices. Hoping he packs 15 - 20 lbs before preseason and probably has the best chance of all true fresh LBs to see playing time. Both Manny and Cooper were thrown into the mix their freshman years and did okay. I think Manny was playing around 205 lbs or so at the time.

Yea. If we thought this years LB'r depth was thin next years is even worse.

Yep, enrolling early will definately give BFW a big advantage in trying to crack the 2017 depth chart. From what I've read Franklin is a LB recruit that will definitely benefit by a year or 2 in the S&G program before he is expected to make significant contributions at LB (he's reportedly around 200 lbs). If Cabinda continues at MLB and Smith backs him up, and they stay healthy, then Rivers could use the year to pack on muscle to his prototype MLB frame and then be ready to hit the ground running in 2018. Hopefully Cooper gets healthy and also makes strides in the S&G program so that he competes for playing time at MLB or OLB and can compete for the starting MLB spot in 2018 (his Sr. year) as well.

Not if we are talking about how we finished the 2016 season. Wartman-White was gone pretty early in the year and then with Cabinda and Bell both got injured we really hit a low point. But with Cabinda back next year and the rest of this year's LB's coming back experienced and bigger and stronger we will be ahead if they stay healthy. When Brown shows up next fall 20 lbs more muscular he will be a beast at LB. Throw in F-W who is enrolling early and also having 2 or 3 other athletic true freshmen to use if there are significant injuries at least gives a contingency plan. And then there is Thomas, who changed positions (RB to LB) and must have been still adjusting as he didn't seem to really contribute in 2016. He is reportedly a very good athlete and could surprise us this Spring by making a run into the depth LB chart.

Losing the tackling machine Bell will hurt, but I see us as having more options at LB for 2017 and those options being more experienced and possibly more physically mature as well.
