Hand to Auburn?

Probably nothing to see here, but just in case I'd have the Arkansas oline coach on speed dial.

If Hand leaves, then I will be the first to say that I'd take Munchak as a replacement O line coach. Of course, this is silly to think that he'd be interested as its a step down from the NFL to college.

Yeah, or someone else from the Wisconsin or Iowa O line coaching tree.

Please God! Make this happen

Potential candidates to fill Grimes' spot should he leave Auburn include Penn State offensive line coach Herb Hand, who is close friends with Malzahn. The two helped design offenses together at Tulsa as co-coordinators. Hand is credited with implementing zone-read concepts with Malzahn's Wing T spread.

Zero chance Munchak comes to PSU as a position coach. Would be amazing if he did, but that job is way below his pay grade.

I actually typed the same message myself, but didn't want to stick my neck out with a pipe dream. It would be nice though...

Does it matter? He has been an absolute embarrassment. I imagine Joe has to plenty of ideas for replacements.

would he come as interim, just to help rebuild for a couple years? another good one to be a consultant.

No, I don't think he'd come as a consultant, as an O line position coach, or as an O coordinator. When asked about the HC position, he legitimately seemed conflicted that he wasn't throwing his name in the ring. Maybe if he saw an advantage to it, he would be interested in coming back to Penn State as head coach. Nothing less would be worthy of his experience/talents. Just my two cents.

He went to Georgia to be with Chaney...Arkansas just hired the Buff Bills OLC Anderson...Better check the speed dial and update

I'm not quite as down on Hand as many seem to be. I'm giving him the same amount of time as Franklin to show his mettle, because he got the worst part of the recruiting mess from the early sanctions. The whole 22-position cupboard might not have been totally bare, but it was certainly understocked, and the OL was the worst hit of any group.

2016 and 2017 should tell the tale of his ability as an OL coach. He's getting some good kids coming in, so I'm willing to take a wait-and-see attitude for a couple more years.....if he sticks around that long.

Be careful what you wish for. Herb was/is Michal Menet's #1 recruiter and seems to be very close with the Menet family. Not saying its a given that Michal would look elsewhere but you never know....................

Not sure why you are warning me.....I just said I wanted to give Hand more time.

After three seasons at Auburn, a 1,000 yard rusher every season, and Auburn leading the SEC in rushing in 2013, J.B Grimes is heading to Cincinnati to take the Offensive Line coaching job with Tommy Tuberville and the Bearcats.

First off, according to the article by Phillip Marshall who broke the news of the Grimes departure, Grimes was not forced out and did have an offer to return to Auburn next season. It was the chance to work with his son, who is on staff at Cincinnati, that led to the change.

Who will replace him? Well, that article confirms that Herb Hand is choice #1. He was Gus' first choice in 2012 when he took the Auburn job.

Gus must not know as much football as some of our posters think they do

Potential candidates to replace Grimes, the first change to Auburn's offensive coaching staff in Malzahn's tenure as head coach, include Penn State offensive line coach Herb Hand, who is close friends with Malzahn, and Arkansas State offensive line coach Glen Elarbee.

Malzahn and Hand designed offenses together as co-coordinators at Tulsa, during which the Golden Hurricane led the nation in offense in both 2007 and 2008. Hand is credited with implementing zone-read concepts with Malzahn's Hurry-Up, No-Huddle offense.

Really hope Hand gets gone. The talent may have been below par, but you've got to get better results than what we saw. Ultimately, he's responsible for the product on the field from that unit.

Most concerning was their lack of meaningful improvement over two years.

Hand was handicapped with talent the last few yrs., great recruiter.....and for him to be auburn`s one one choice says something. This is close to being a done deal .

he was handicapped, but he also didn't produce so who knows if he can coach at this level. As far as recruiting, we have not landed any highly ranked OLineman out side of PA and NJ and Menet was not considering SEC schools so that helped us a lot.

Hire this guy. Amazing recruiter, amazing offensive line coach.

The only University of Miami coach with all five Hurricanes national championship rings was dismissed from his job Sunday morning.

UM Sports Hall of Famer and Miami offensive line coach Art Kehoe will be replaced by former Virginia Tech OL coach Stacy Searels.

Kehoe, 58, had a three-hour interview on Wednesday with head coach Mark Richt and continued talking with him afterward. But in the end, Richt released Kehoe.

“I love the University of Miami,’’ Kehoe told the Miami Herald by phone Sunday. “I’m so grateful for all the great memories and great coaches and great players I was able to be around.

“I’m always going to be a Hurricane and I’ll always love the Hurricanes. I would have loved to stay, but I’ve got to move on and take care of my family. I wish Coach Richt and his staff much success… I know he’s going to do a terrific job.’’

Richt was a UM quarterback when Kehoe was an offensive lineman for the Hurricanes in 1979 and ‘80.

Kehoe had been with the program as a player or coach for 31 years. All who know him well compare him to the late, legendary Walt Kichefski, a UM football captain in 1939, interim head coach in 1970, longtime assistant and lifetime fan.

This "rumor" is really picking up steam on Twitter. Same happened with Shoop. Where's there's smoke, there's fire. He's most likely gone.
