harbaugh climbs a tree because recruit's sister asks him to.

Harbaugh is entertaining. The eccentricities and difficulty getting along with others; it's all good as long as you are meeting or exceeding expectations. Start losing or just not meeting expectations, and the act wears thin.

play for harbaugh or this guy....

judging by recruiting classes i think we know what the choice would be.
Wow the Michigan trolls are really out in force tonight!

Harbaugh's act is wearing thin as he keeps getting weirder and weirder. I think he has a personality disorder. He's like that kid who doesn't have a lot of friends in school so he will do anything or take any dare in order to try and win friends.

LOL...your metaphor couldn't be more off if you tried. He is anything but insecure. Call him weird, an ahole or whatever. But he doesn't do what he does because he is scared people don't like him.

Quite the opposite...he does what he does because he isn't concerned what other people think of him. He does it because he believes in his own way and that enough people will see it his way (and the ones who don't he doesn't concern himself with). This is probably not the best comparison (especially for the young folk...way before my time but I know who he was) but it comes to mind...he's like a Charlie Chaplin...innovator....little to no filter...trying to make a point even if he comes at it sideways....and (again) really cares little what you think of him as long as you get his point...

Honestly...the only thing I read out of a post like yours is you are scared of him...maybe you were the kid in HS who only fit in if you conformed with what others did instead of being yourself?

Maybe in your world sleepovers + climbing trees + pulling 'ships + ghosting = ingenious front-page recruiting innovations, but the rest of the world is shaking its collective head as college football sinks to a new low.

I don't mind his quirkiness, but pulling the scholarships and ghosting loyal recruits tells me these kids are nothing but a commodity to Jim.

And what does anything you said have to do with my point that he is NOT the high school kid who does things because he hopes to make friends?

So now we're comparing Franklin at Penn State to harbaugh at um. Franklin inherited a sparse cupboard for reasons having nothing to do with football, while harbaugh inherited a fully stocked cupboard thanks to hoke. The two situations obviously aren't alike. To be honest, I'm surprised the Penn State-um game was as close as it was.

Looking ahead, Franklin and harbaugh are starting to bring in their own recruits. Franklin is starting to restock his roster. We will know in a few years if Franklin can get the job done in Happy Valley. So give him a few years with a full roster built with his recruits. harbaugh, on the other hand, is a proven entity. He is a good coach. However, he is a bit of a mental case. The next few years for him at um will be telling. He should be able to recruit well and win, but will recruits tire of his antics? Will he tire of recruiting and the college game and want to go back to the NFL?

The next few years will be telling for both Franklin and harbaugh. There are question marks with both, but for very different reasons.
