Harvard cancels the rest of their Men's Soccer Season

(trigger warning, basically this whole post is tic)
how attractive they found the players on another men's team?
Saquon is the hottest.
about your wife or daughter
Yes, because how could you understand if you didnt have a wife or daughter. BTW your post is a microaggression on gays and the daughterless.
Whether or not you like Trump, the backlash on this sort of thing is just beginning.
NY Times did an article on this back in Sept. Check it out.

If people stopped living to get laid, we'd stop living. No way to separate it. Everyone is nicer, even liberals, subconsciously to people with who they'd sleep. If anything those that admit it are at least honest.

It was in several of the articles I have read. It been going since 2012 and the 2016 team apparently continued the tradition.

OK, I read two articles, one from CNN and one from Huffington Post. I'm not trying to be obtuse, honestly I'm not. But I can't figure out if the language they're citing is from the 2012 document they referenced and they're just assuming that there would be similar types of comments today (2016) or whether they actually had comments from today. And while they say it was "wide spread" across the team, it's unclear what that means. For some, wide spread might be 2 people. Or it truly may have been the entire team. These articles have me re-thinking my position and I would like some additional information. But IF the language that was cited is applicable to today's team and IF it truly was wide spread amongst the team (meaning there were so many players involved that if you suspended them all there would be no way to field a team) then I think the school's actions were appropriate.

If this is the worst thing my poor sweet never do anything wrong innocent daughter has to "suffer thru" then I will consider her and myself very blessed. This is called " life" ... deal with it.

This article has more information.

And while we're at it let's make sure we give everyone their "participation trophy" so no one gets their feelings hurt.

Clearly...we need more sensitivity training.

It a consequence for their actions. Using your logic if a Penn State football player smashes a bunch of windows in a dorm they should not get suspended because it would not unbreak the window. It would just be so people feel better about themselves.

Was the thread about that case? No it was about the Harvard case. I also think the that women should have faced sanctions for her actions.
So you propose a hypothetical situation which for some reason you made about football to make a point then turn around and criticize someone else for citing a real case which isn't the topic of this thread to make their own point? I sense an agenda.

because it was discovered the men ranked the woman's soccer players by their appearance.

Harvard University suspended its first-place men’s soccer team Thursday for the rest of the season after discovering that players’ crude sexual comments about the women’s team persisted for years, the Harvard Crimson reported.

The online practice of the men rating the women players on their sexual attractiveness was discovered from a 2012 document, but it appeared to “be more widespread across the team and has continued beyond 2012, including 2016,” athletic director Robert L. Scalise said in an email.

“The team will forfeit its remaining games and will decline any opportunity to achieve an Ivy League championship or to participate in the NCAA Tournament this year,” he wrote.
Certainly bad taste and bad form, but to cancel the season seems like overkill, big time.

Essentially they did as the posted publically and shared it other people. I would say that meets the definition of bullying. What your definition? If you had a daughter who was a student at Penn State would you have no problem with the football team publically posting derogatory comments about her and sharing them with friends? Do you feel this is acceptable behavior?
It's not, but I wouldn't cancel the season over it.

Well, we don't know content...or every player participated. I hate blanket penalties because, often, innocent people get penalized.

We are clearly living in a "brave new world". I think events like Duke, PSU, Baylor (despite Duke and UVA being clawed back) are causing organizations to go nuts covering their butts...

I used the football team because that what this is about. The Duke incident was not involving a sports team. I do feel the Duke student should have been sanctioned by the school. I also feel that participating in sports is a privilege and therefore those who choose to participate in it should be held to a higher standard. As an athlete you represent your schools and therefore should be held at a higher standard. For example is an athlete gets arrested for weed I feel that they should face consequences as an athlete. I have no problem with a school suspending them form football even if they would have taken no action against a regular student.

What?? This thread is about the Harvard men's soccer team. It was you who introduced the football angle.

From what I understand this was much more than rating on 1-10 scale. They publically posted them along with crude and demeaning comments. I am sure if these were publicly posted about your wife or daughter you would want action taken also. They also lied to administrators when confronted about it.
Hell, we're likely to elect a president who lies constantly. Why would lying to administrators be a big deal?

It is two games. I not an overly harsh punishment.

C'mon Nut, that's disingenuous. They had a real shot at a conference championship and the NCAA tourney. Those are very rare things for an athlete to be able to experience.

This is egregious! If Harvard was serious about this outrage, they would cancel all men's sports for ever. This is just a slap on the wrist. ;)
Harvard should have been in charge of programming when the women on "The View" were talking about Al Gore's "package" on National TV.

Well sure, but my point isn't about Trump vs. Clinton. It is more about the backlash against this current culture where noone can say anything without offending someone. Some of the support Trump carries is just people angry about the PC society.

Here's a fun little thing. Watch this video. How many cases of "Sexual Assault" and "Assault" are in it? I stopped counting with a high number. This is how far society has changed.

Probably just a matter of time before John Wayne movies and other Movies of the past that were accepted as being normal 50 years ago will be banned as being either insensitive or immoral.

I admit it. I looked. Now I'm in the process of making my own list.
Because PC = power, the same power lawyers and accountants derive from creating languages only they can understand. Yes, this is much better than the occasional bigoted, sexist comment.......now let's hear the PC apologists defend this one!

I can tell you this, in Harvardworld they didn't even bat an eye or think twice before making this decision--it is exactly their world view. Now please, somebody tell me now, how the left doesn't completely dominate our educational system. The absence of any consenting voice at all is deafening. And they call the far right fascists? News flash, both the far right and the far left are fascists......that's why they're far right and far left!!

well, they should have the women's team rank the men by their "size", except those under 2 inches. imagine that list !! line up in size order.

So I think what you are saying is free and open sexual action will reduce unwanted sexual aggression.

I don't know, I'd have to see it before making that judgment. It sounds to me like a juvenile prank and relatively harmless. Would I like it? Nope, but that's life. But then again a lot of people have no tolerance for "hurting other people's feelings" anymore. You can't even come out in support of a conservative political candidate without "triggering" someone on a college campus. They have save zones now for free speech..... So i am suspicious of any measure taken today by a public institution of higher learning because it doesn't necessarily make sense nor does the punishment always fit the crime. It's knee-jerk reactions and political correctness in many cases.

They are adults so spare the juvenile prank excuse. They got in to Harvard so I assume they knew smart enough to know it was wrong to do. Isn't the point of college to prepare you for the real world? If you made a list like this of your co workers do you expect you boss to say well it harmless? Would you expect them to save free speech? In the real world there is sexual harassment. This type of behavior in the real world would get the fire and or a lawsuit. This has nothing to do with safe zones. They are better of learning the lesson now then having a career ruined by it. How about instead of making accuses for people's behavior why don't we hold them responsible for it?

I don't suppose they still have a link to this list so I can see it with my own two eyes? I just don't trust anyone's opinion anymore on what is offensive and what is not. I will see what I can find. I haven't seen the material so I'm only going by hearsay, innuendo and a dash of cynicism. :)

College campuses are such a bizarre dichotomy these days ; an anything goes approach to sexual behaviors alongside Puritanism.

Throwing a flag here...

I need to see pictures of each of the girl soccer players and the average score each one received from the men's team. Only then can I judge whether the season should be forfeited.

Pretty soon if you marry above our grad you are going to shunned
