FB Recruiting Harvard transfer OL Spencer Rolland decommits from PSU

I wonder if this is a scholarship numbers game here, and Rolland was encouraged to look elsewhere. Or maybe the Penn State Football Coaches were not happy with the quality of Eric Wilson and didnt see much of an upside for Rolland in our program.

I would imagine encouraged to look elsewhere because Wilson getting rolled all year long. Somehow someone thought OL at Harvard would translate in to OL in the B1G.

I just watched a little of the Rolland film and damn the teams he is blocking against look like a 6A school playing a 1A school.

Nationally, the portal has an astronomical amount of players already. Lots of players won’t be able to find new programs.
So that is interesting. Kid declares, gets no interest, stuck at original school. What if the school yanks scholly for a new player? And even if he stays, would be awkward for both coaches and players. Who wants a guy that wanted to bale out on the team?
I am sure a few stars would be welcomed back but others would face some tough issues. Perhaps kids will start to be more cautious about the portal.

Big learning curve and teaching moment on tap.

Didn't Lamont Wade do that?

It has worked out in a few instances, i.e. Wade, but for the most part it just doesn't happen.

It is again what you get what Paid Ass Kissers that write recruiting articles have people believe they are media.

Why hasn't one of them ever written an article about the failures of the portal? Why won't they flat out say that a kid from Harvard has no damn business going to the B1G?

Because they are paid to kiss these kids asses and that how they make their money. They are as much media as the rest of them.

Whatever the “rules” are, you know the ones that the gutless NCAA never enforces. Any marginal kid on scholarship that enters the portal without already lining up a new home is an idiot. But then again ego and reality dwell in different lands.

Possibly. PSU is headed towards a big rebuilding year next year. IMO the only way they're going to improve upon their 2021 record is if they do it with high quality portal transfers. Perhaps they're making room.

hey, why not put your name in there every year? I mean, it is like giving someone access to the used car lot with all of the keys. What is the downside?

Or maybe he talked with Eric Wilson. Hope that is not the case.
