FB Recruiting Penn State lands Texas A&M Transfer Offensive Guard TJ Shanahan

Call me crazy but I think we use Olesh in WR positions similar to the playbook we had for Warren in WR positions. Won’t be an every down player but I think we see him often. Our TE room is too good and WR room too bad not try this.
Just convert Reynolds to a WR. Like Jurevicious back in the day. Rappleyea, Dinkins and Olesh are the TEs.

Until they get 2 wide receivers better than they have now, this is irrelevant.
They literally did that already.

There will be a battle for that right tackle spot between Rucci and Donkoh given how well Rucci played when Donkoh went down.
Isn't there another OL - Chimdy Onoh - whom the staff was talking up?
As well as Rucci played they will have to find time for him along that OL.

“Three-level pass catcher with a favorable combination of measurables and traits that has a chance to emerge as a game-changing combo tight end on Saturdays. Tested in the upper percentile spring before senior season, clocking a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash and a 4.13 in the short shuttle at just under 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. Has been deployed primarily as a large outside receiver at the prep level, but has proven to be an effective move blocker out on the perimeter and has finished a bulk of his run-blocking chores when asked to work out of a three-point stance. Mixes gears well as a route runner and turned heads at the Elite 11 Finals with his dynamic cuts, large catch radius, and superb body control. Competitive with the ball in his hands as he will use his burst and agility to get out of tackles. Will need to add some mass in the coming years and keep progressing as an in-line player to reach full potential, but should be viewed as a future multi-year starter at the Power Four level that can elevate a passing attack after a developmental year or two. NFL upside given the growth potential and how he moves.” - 247 analyst
Now if we can get some really good WOs to compliment this guy, he could be a real Swiss Army Knife for us. No matter what he's going to be a miss match for defenses most of the time.

I don't think so but who knows. It will be pretty crowded inside if Dawkins returns along with Cousins, Loane, Shanahan, Williams and some others. Should be an interesting Spring sorting out the OL, especially for those that are changing positions such as Williams and all the young guys.
Any chance one or two switches to d line?

I don't see that happening now that Durant is returning and possibly Izzard. Hopefully Ford full recovers, Andrews and Gilliam (Freshman) step into the rotation. Still need a few portal DTs.
I agree that the staff will try and bring in at least 1 DT transfer. But in addition to Gilliam there were 2 other freshmen DT's that redshirted, Andrews and Cook, who could surprise. Artis was hurt and is a big 1 tech likely in the mix as well, along with Blanding. And Mupoyi. Lots to sort out at DT but a good many candidates to pair with a Durant, Ford, Izzard if he returns....

Another position that will get sorted out in the Spring and into Fall camp for a 4/5 player rotation.

Wow, a highly rated guard transfers to us and the whole discussion is about OTs and WRs? I think this kid will leave his mark on the program. He started five games as a redshirt freshman for A & M this year. He gives Traut a lot to work with.
