It was on Sirius college sports radio, and apparently the clip was a follow up to a question about why Arkansas had a photo of their starting 5 OL on the cover of the press guide this year. Bielema went on about how much or a priority the OL was, and the DL as well. He said that he has the "big guys" fly up front in first class with the coaches because they need more room and like cookies. LOL While he may still be a douche, I really think his mentality of building teams via focusing on the OL and DL is solid and he will be successful at Arkansas. Of course, he's not the only coach that values the big uglies, but I think he sincerely believes they are the most important part. Other coaches may covet QBs or skill position players more. I wouldn't be upset if he turned Arkansas into a contender in the SEC west and knock those Bama boys down a few pegs.

Hard to disagree with that as the foundation for success. I believe it is still the case that Wiscy has the most OL in the NFL. They are always deficient in certain areas, OL is not usually one and it is a great equalizer. In fact, they've just hammered certain teams by running the ball over and over again.

I agree with you...I know for certain that Arkansas is a team on the rise. I personally would rather see Bama win than arkansas. Bama fans have always been gracious and nice to Penn Staters.

They are much like Wisky with the huge OL which averages "328 lbs" Their one OT is 6-10, 331 lbs! Wisky has proven time and again that they can develop average rated OL coming out of high that have one thing in common, "size." Always wondered why we didn't pursue Mike Grimm who committed to Pitt. Was told the staff wasn't that high on him, even though he was a big kid, around 330 lbs. We will see how things work out for him.

You're right about the 'Bama fans -- consistently pleasant and gracious. But I just can't pull for Saban.

Hey, Nashville, do you currently live in Music City? I went to Vandy (graduated 30 years ago) and am planning a return trip to the city with my wife in mid-November. She's never been and is really excited about the trip. Honestly, though, other than the Grand Ole Opry and Centennial Park, I don't remember a lot of things to do or places to see. Is the Country Music Hall of Fame a good visit? Do you know if the old Lovelace (or is is Loveless) Cafe on the west side of town still in business? I sure remember several fun trips out there, but it might not be such a hot spot for us these days. Any other ideas?

Same "frame/size" approach at Nebraska back in their heyday. RS all OL and have them spend their time eating and lifting.

yes, the loveless cafe is still open. And yes the country music hall of fame would be worth seeing. My wife also is a Vandy grad...for her Masters degree. Her two sisters got their PhD's at Vandy.
There are many great places to eat and see now. Nashville has changed tremendously in the past 20 years...especially the past ten.

The Loveless Cafe has some of the best biscuits in the world by the way...a must see for out of town guests.

My wife and I love Nashville. There is a restaurant not far from Broadway called Southern, that I always hit for Sunday brunch. It's likely just as good other times.

I am a fan of classic country music, so I really appreciated the hall of fame. Also the grand ole opry is agreat for seeing performances from stars of today, tomorrow, and yesterday. One think on my bucket list is to see a concert in the old Ryman auditorium. Broadway is a fun place to spend an afternoon/evening or two having some adult beverages, listening to live music (mostly covers), and people watching. Also, it's only a little over an hours drive to the Jack Daniel's distillery. Even if you aren't a die hard whiskey drinker (I'm not), the tour there was very interesting. There is a town called Franklin, which I'm hoping to check out next time we visit Nashville.

Left tackle is one of the highest paid positions in the NFL and accordingly a coveted position in college football.

Thanks much, Nashville! Helpful info.

Bielema is gonna need a good offensive line if his QB's are bad enough for him to be taking on Ricky Town. He may have transferred from a prominent football school (USC), but Town showed zippo in practice sessions at USC, and his dad is apparently a big time helicopter parent.

In todays' game of college football, there is no other position grouping as important as the offensive line. In fact, there is no other postion grouping that is even CLOSE to as important as the offensive line.

this is why you can have a player who would have gone overall probably first or second in the draft, after his sophomore year, with a 7-6 team, 15 interceptions, and 44 sacks.

It's also why you can have a team like Oregon lose at home, to a team they beat later on in the season by 51 points, all because of two starting offensive tackles who missed the first game, but played the second.

Finally, it also clearly explains how a team can play a third string quarterback and win the national championship.
